Here we go again (the Stone Roses)

There's only one judgement that's going to matter to the Roses, and that's whether the tickets sell or not.

And of that I don't think there can be any doubt. Even the people making those negative comments will be snapping them up.

They'll sell out everywhere and any festival they appear at will have a huge increase in sales. Could be a good thing for festivals after the disaster of this summer sales wise for the majority.

Dunno about standing there in a muddy field having paid silly money to see them play though. I'd feel a little silly. What did Squire say about reuniting for money recently. "Tragic"? Possibly.

What time is the presser?

Edit - Just read the press conference is at 3pm.

And from the perspective of somebody who has never had the chance to see them, I would happily pay lots of money to see them, even if they're shit. I can completely understand where everybody who's saying they'll ruin the legacy (even Squire...) is coming from, but from a selfish point of view, I want to see them.

...And that is what's wrong with the world.

Info Info Info ...... :D:D:D .... sources tell us.....

1. the driver for the reform is not (just?) money, they'll be a new album too.

2. they'll be playing V Festival in August.

3. they'll be playing the revived Phoenix Festival sometime in August too.

I'm presuming these things will be confirmed at the press conf this arvo.

I said Phoenix but ....

Having followed up what I've heard thru the grapevine I'm less sure now that what I've been told is actually correct. The speed of the denial I got and from who suggested to me that there might be nothing to it ... then again, it might just be something they're denying until they're ready to announce it.

Be a bit odd for V to agree to Stone roses, presumably a headliner for them, to play their competitors festival in the same month...

yeah, that had occurred to me too.

So if it's true, I'd guess that V fest will get to have their announcement first (perhaps this arvo?) - for a month or two, or perhaps just till they sell their tix - and that a Phoenix announcement will follow along later.

Every V headliner I can remeber has been on a 'English Exclusive'. Are V willing to let this go to get the Roses?

I assume Phoenix is in England?

I'm guessing that Phoenix will be in England, as it was before.

And if the Roses playing Pheonix info is correct, I'm guessing that it's happening because the money was too good to turn down (I'm of the belief that Vince Power has difficulty getting access to the bigger acts as they're normally tied up with the more normal big players), and that there's as very strong belief that the Roses are a big enough draw to shift all of the tickets that would be available.

The info I've had is excellently sourced (I know how it's routed to me) so should be correct, as it almost always is when it's come at me like this - but I can't guarantee that it is. I'm having to rely on the word of others, and I've no way of getting things in a more concrete manner.

Hopefully at least some of what I've heard will be confirmed at the press conf this arvo.

If its only a handful of festival appearances, it shows that they're only in it for the money; a couple of gigs and a couple fo suitcases full of cash. In, out, done. Otherwise, If they really had new material, they would want to put it out and perform it.

What part of "the driver for the reform is not (just?) money, they'll be a new album too" passed you by?

    • Hezbollah rejected it. Really Israel should get the f**k out, and US and others should support the Lebanese govt in defeating Hezbollah.
    • Still thinking Reform might scrape a win in Makerfield and it will be the biggest LOL ever.
    • Yeah, 10 minutes could be better but it's definitely far from disastrous.
