No. I've just heard a couple of reports suggesting he was. Can't have been worse than Downing.

Oh, it probably wasn't worse. But probably about as bad.

Don't forget he was playing in the French league, which isn't hugely different to the Scottish one.

harsh but true.

It's a league that's all about a very small number of teams. I know the Prem is going more that way, but it's long way from being anything very similar all the same.

Richards hasn't been picked for his club recently. I think he's a tank so stands out a bit, but I don't think he's as consistent as it appears. He looks good in places because of his build but definitely lacks some mobility because of it... I've heard he's a bit positionally susceptible too, though never studied him closely enough to notice as much.

I certainly wouldn't swap Johnson for Micah at Liverpool. I think Johnson's got a bit of an unfair reputation for being a complete liability because of the odd dodgy performance in poor England sides, whereas Richards seems to have this myth perpetuated by England fans that he's consistently very solid... when he's not getting in his club side.

Saying all that, he'd still have been in my squad with Walker out.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a "very very exciting player, who has made an impression on me on quite a few occasions this season. I was very impressed with how he coped with Ambrosini and Pirlo in the middle against Milan."

It's just been pointed out to me that Andrea Pirlo, the player marshalled so impressively by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in Hodgson's eyes, actually now plays for Juventus and not AC Milan and Massimo Ambrosini wasn't even on the bench against Arsenal either.

The thing is Richards is playing in a team which is a lot harder to get in than Johnson. Also Richards extra freshness may be a a benefit. Im not sure how much you can take from club performances, international football is a lot different as you go from playing against a relatively high proportion of players who play a british style to a relatively low one. In truth Richards should have been tested before, to compare his performances with Johnson.

Alex Oxleade Chamberlin would be much better playing a key role in an olympic side. Then go to the euros and possibly not play a single game. I know he is only on the standby list but Henderson would be much better in the olympic squad as well. Every squad will take players who are unlikely to play but in terms of getting tournament experience its probably best to keep these to players over 23.

They wouldn't do it face to face, but instead have waited for him to go on holiday before they sack him? :blink::lol:

C'mon, put a little thought into this. He might be on dodgy ground, his days might be numbered, but some things are outside of what even the worst corporate shark would ever be likely to do.

Has Woy said why he named the final squad and not a provisional one? It seems bit odd to me to make a final decision when he still has time and hasn't had a game in charge yet.

If I'm remembering rightly, I think the players and FA agreed that those over-sized squads were a bad idea, because it fucks with the players heads - so I don't think they plan to do those again.

But yeah, if we ever needed to do it that time is now.

      I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.

      Yeah, I think it's important to differentiate between a stage that's just a platform for the artist to walk on (which can be assembled fairly quickly and without too much difficulty), and the custom staging that you get in big productions where there's a whole world underneath.   Using the Eras tour as an example the stage extending out into the stadium field has all sorts - lifts that go up or down - down most importantly as this allows performers to enter or to leave the stage as needed. There's passageways to get from one part of the stage to another. There's what are effectively dressing rooms set aside for costume changes. There's spare instruments (and techs to look after them) so if something goes wrong above they can be swapped out in the space of seconds. There's even a track and dolly system running the full length of the stage so that Taylor can be moved from one end to the other faster than she'd be able to walk.   I don't know the specifics of the Madonna tour to the same degree but my understanding is that a lot of the same techniques are used.
