Think Moyes bought him back in on loan for 1/2 a season or so, not sure if you can use that on his success with Strikers.

Beattie is another that I forgot about that didn't work, Jo was another, he was alrightish for a bit but his heart was never in it.

Marcus Bent turned out well, he binned him off pretty sharpish, I think the fella from Leeds (who did OK himself) was just bought for profit, otherwise Radsinski was OK under Moyes, Ferguson did alright, Campbell was on his last legs, otherwise my mind is blank

I think the problem with moyes and strikers is the system he plays, the strikers is there more to hold the ball up bringing the midfield into play, the yak was brilliant in the season we had that run in Europe then stopping giving a shit, apparently he did the same at borough?

Case in point really. Lots of strikers signed under Moyes are so incredibly forgettable. The ones that are remembered are the big money ones, and still as disappointments.

If you don't use net spend and the money raised from extorting money for the likes of Rooney and Lescott then Everton are one of the league's big spenders. Probably the highest outside the top 6 clubs (the expected top 6, not us).

Depends on your definition of big money, but if you take out Man U, City, Chelsea, Liverpool then it's big money. Arsenal's record of £16m is similar to Everton's for Fellaini isn't it?

I suspect that side didn't have Tim Cahill scoring 20 odd goals a season and indeed had Johnson taken all the pennos he won. He didn't take them at Everton.

15 million on Fellaini was eye watering stuff, completely irresponsible now looking back on it in regards to how the banks have tightened things up. Luckily its worked out and I suspect we'll make money on him this summer. Looks like peanuts now the likes of Jordan Henderson are going for more!

I'd probably be right (can't be bothered to look) in saying that City have been the top spenders for several seasons, yet only now they're looking like they might get the top league position.

And likewise, if (say) Wigan went on a City-type spending spree this summer and outspent everyone, no one would realistically expect them to win the league or even get close to it via that no.1 spend.

The starting position for any spending is of huge relevance. Liverpool's starting position for their spending over the last year or so means they'd have never got close to winning the league this year, even if they should have done a bit better than they have.

Never denied it, as you say though, we've only been able due to making some big sales, that other clubs have not been lucky enough to have done.

Maybe it's a harsh view of Johnson, but it certainly wasn't a good signing even if it wasn't awful.

He's an excellent player though. How long has he got on his contract?

Everton fans don't view Johnson as a failure, although perhaps could have hoped for more, we never played in a manner to suit his game though.

No idea re Cahill, 20 does seem like loads though, Lampard only gets around that!
