2013 Headliners

hmm i don't know, seems very ambitious to me. i know they pulled a big crowd subbing Other in 2010, but i don't see them as an act big enough to pull people away from the Main Stage headliner, or big enough to have jumped to Pyramid sub in three years. they haven't gotten any bigger since they last played

Is there any reason for the Nick Cave prediction? Would love it, but hadn't seen it as a possibility.

think it's just because he has a new album out and everybody would love it. can't see him subbing again just four years after he last did it though under Blur, although that seems like the only space he could realistically play

Thing is with that Pyramid sub the idea always seems to be that they have to either compliment the headliner or just set a hyped party-esque atmosphere - which is why I can easily see someone like Hot Chip subbing this year. Every setting I've seen them in they nail it and if Fleetwood Mac were to play I think they'd make the perfect sub.

Not bad. Would have to go with the flow for Saturday night as I couldn't realistically do Vaccines, TDCC, Stones (Dizzee) & enjoy it. & neither would my friends.

You can't really guess really with glasto subs, because in some cases they aren't huge acts, they are just acts which could be a good warm up for the headliner. Let me just give an example

in 2010, Scissor Sisters subbed muse, and below Scissor Sisters was shakira, in all realistic terms shakira is bigger than the scissor sisters, so I believe it really doesn't matter how big the act is, unless that act is headlining the pyramid. Just my opinion.

i'd argue that, at the time, in the UK, Scissor Sisters were bigger than Shakira. there's still some sense to the ordering at Glastonbury act size wise

as i said, Nick Cave played that spot not so long ago and it's not like Glastonbury to have repeat bookings in the same spot, especially such a high spot, so i can't see him being there unfortunately. i could be wrong though

some artists will take a lower placing on the bill as it will give them time to get back to London (or wherever) to do another gig. i think Snoop did that a few years back.

That screaming Flo harridan is having a year off, Noel Gallagher is taking the year off, Black Keys have said they're taking the summer off, Mumfords won't sub when they could get paid loads more for headlining Reading/V (festivals they skipped while playing Glastonbury in 2011) and doing that would probably mean an exclusive deal

Given we don't know who the headliners are, we've got absolutely no idea who the subs are. It's just got the time of year where you can see what acts are around this year and which aren't which makes it easier to speculate. It's also got to the stage where people start getting really giddy about the magnitude of the line-up then find themselves disappointed in April because they had unrealistic expectations (not necessarily you, it's jhust part of the circle of (Glastonbury forum) life). There's always the chance of someone like Gallagher doing a one-off but hey, if I'm wrong it'll be a surprise ;-)

And before anyone says those bands are all from the shit indie-landfill era of 05-08/9 I apologise but that's where I was looking and yes I realise that period of time was pretty extreme for the "unjustifiable popularity:crap" ratio but I think the point still stands - there are going to be bands in high-slots who really don't merit it

While I agree to a certain extent, there's also going to be several very random unpredictable acts in major placings, and lower down, which make it basically impossible to give anywhere near an accurate prediction, and is part of the beauty of the fest.
