All the talk of the Arctic Monkeys headlining, is there any possibility they may be lower down the bill or headlining Other?

When they headlined in 07, they were off the back of 2 platinum selling albums. Since then, they have has 2 No 1 albums, but not platinum, and haven't had a Top 20 hit for 4 years. Maybe their star is burning out and these are the back-ups for headliners if needed?

Take with the appropriate sized pinch of salt / tell me I'm an idiot etc but a friend teaches one of the younger members of the Eavis family and got Mumford / Stones / Prince out of him as the planned lineup. Doesn't gel with other stuff floating around but I think the only thing we've established so far is that no-one really knows much at all.

Ever considered gambling? ;)

a very good idea! If I remember next time I'm passing a bookies I'll definitely put a few quid on. :)

Thing is I'm probably more likely to lose than win, even if I do have all the names right - cos history shows that Eavis says he has them booked, and then later on he's trying to book other bands cos the booking doesn't get firmed up..

Do you think that's the influence of Nile? Thinking back through the stuff he's done, he seems to use a massive range of instruments, which I think he'd prefer live.

Btw, they do know how to play instruments, they were a live band in the predecessor to Daft Punk.

Wouldn't that make Daft Punk 2014 effectively a completely different band to Daft Punk now? Bit of a gamble making such a 'new band' a headliner without a proven track record in the genre - assumes they are going to be good at that genre just because they are good at something else now

Its like Mumford and Sons dropping their guitars, fiddles and banjos (or whatever) and becoming a drum and base band

yeah I know - else how would they have been able to do the album in the first place? I was taking the piss.

The real reason for them not touring this year is that they want to see how the album is received first, because it's quite a radical change because it's got no computers.

I've heard a couple of 4th hand reports from people who've heard the album, and both of those have said it's excellent. What I don't know tho is whether those people's tastes and likes are worth listening to.

    • Aren't they against touring?
    • If my memory serves me right, it was the other way round - when PS 2022 lineup was released it was already confirmed that she plays Barcelona in May.
    • Cheers! And yep looks identical to Green day's scheduling
    • Reading all the feedback with interest.  If there are now 75,000 tickets officially sold, plus who knows how many more people blagging in - then on the Friday evening and Saturday in particular, it's not ridiculous to suggest there's 50,000 people at Mordor, which is a stadium gig - except with much worse sight lines, an inferior PA, and far less bars and toilets. The Thursday evening in 2022 was of course infamous but on the Friday night for Beck I was trapped about 150m from the stage, surrounded by chatters, and with no prospect of getting nearer the stage.  With hindsight that was when I realised the fest had one way or another fundamentally changed.  Also noting on Reddit that some folk didn't enjoy the Cure or Gorillaz because the sets were "too long".  In future bands may be better received if they actually just play their top 10 Spotify songs then get back off the stage.
    • Has Glastonbury already got council permission for that 5 year run?
