I think R+L probably has some degree of exclusivity going on there. Makes them very unlikely for Glasto if you ask me, but I think we all saw that coming.

EDIT: And someone's pointed out it IS an exclusive.

Sorry to double post but I only just went and read that Reading and Leeds announcement for myself - Is anyone else as surprised as I am that System of a Down are playing but aren't a headliner? I would've thought them easily big enough, especially at R+L.

There were massive doubts about their headlining ability. It was only really their fan boys who were we constantly pushing them as headliners.

are System of a Down playing any other UK fest this year? Surely they would have been on an exclusive for R and L as well if they wern't?

Other Stage headline set? Don't think they're necessarily any 'heavier' than QotSA.

Reading's website doesn't appear to confirm SOAD as an 'exclusive'... So I guess anything's possible.

SOAD may not be any heavier than QOTSA, but i'd say they're slightly more of a 'novelty' act than QOTSA are. i'd be very surprised if they ever play Glastonbury

Bear with me but that is just my opinion, I feel like the status of glasto has on the most part drawn a level of headliners above other festivals (not just quality) but take 2011 for example, U2 barely tour and almost never play fests, and Coldplay and 'Yonce just rarely perform in large arena tours. Biffy clyro for exaple haven't stopped touring and playing festivals.

I just feel like most of the rumours so far fit this but a few stick out as not quite 'special' enough for glasto, Dizzee Rascal, Mumfords Etc.

They made very sure to say that ONLY Biffy and FOB were UK fest exclusives, The only other festival they could play is download and they were there 2 years ago and all the top slots are filled.

If they were exclusives of any sort they would have really pushed like they always do, so them not being exclusives is interesting.

They may have their own shows lined up but download don't have them, they could be at Glastonbury

It is a possibility. They might have thier own shows, but the two were 'UK festival exclusives' SOAD are not just playing one UK festival.

I also doubt FR would be willing to let one of their star attractions play second stage at Glastonbury. They got a bit of a kicking over the changing of exclusivity and terms etc, since 2010, so I can only see SOAD doing something big. Where that may be, I have no idea.

QOTSA is one thing, and Smashing Pumpkins is one thing, but System Of A Down are just too much in that 'yeahhhhh i'm 16 years old and love my metullzzzzzz' category for Glastonbury (and that's not me insulting the band. i love System and am considering going to Leeds to see them. they just won't be at Glastonbury, nor will they have ever been considered for Glastonbury)
