Why am I not excited?!?

Don't get me wrong, every other thought is about Glastonbury at the moment but I just don't seem to be getting that same tingle of amazing anticipation running down my spine every 5 seconds.

Maybe I'm just getting old or something...

If anyone could aid me in my endeavour to get ridiculously over excited that would be marvellous.

1. because it's going to rain

2. because there are no breathtakingly good bands playing this year

3. because each year the festival is worse than the year before, by some distance

4. because the clientele is now just the same as V/reading/T in the park etc.

5. because you touch yourself at night

Oxfam - so it will be either one of the Ped Gates, or directing traffic (at least attempting to). There are better roles - stewarding the disabled viewing platform for example - got to be the best since you see all thats on that stage. Just never seem to get one of these more interesting roles and have worked for them before in 2005 and 2008.

Not being too excited is probably a good thing. You can't replace those days when the festival just turned up and you decided to go down and jump the fence the day before or whatever barely knowing who was playing. I think letting the festival creep up on you is probably the way to go anyway (if you can manage it!).

Is this a temporary lull or has your 2011 mojo never been airborne? I’d challenge Russy and posit more night touching … possibly involving others … and food stuff.

Think wood smoke, random cheers, your new bezzy mate in a stupid hat who’s convinced he’s just seen Muammar Gaddafi on stage with U2 … you’ll get there.

I'm having a bit of a similar thing - just back from Primavera to a week at work where I'm currently on 2 people's out of office and by Friday will be on 4!

However, it's starting to take off nicely now

I have gone from being stupidly excited to not that bothered and was thinking about it last night and wondering why. Then this morning I woke up and realised that it is two weeks today and was practically jumping up and down with the excitement of it all!!!

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
