It's been weaker in recent years than it has been in the past (by which I mean, Stewart Lee hasn't been showing up!) but it'll still have some decent comedy.

Coldplay have a new song called Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. That should give people a good old chuckle when they play that.

John Otway is worth a look in, as is Arthur Smith and Shappi Khorsandi. All completely different but all pretty funny.

Of the list I posted, Simon Munnery is probably the highlight, although what he's doing nowadays is a lot gentler and more traditional than his earlier League Against Tedium years. He does jokes about being a dad!

League Against Tedium? That was years and years into Munnery's Glasto performances.

Alan Parker Urban Warrior - that was him at his best. It's been downhill ever since.

I check out Filthy Frank every year now, religiously checking the boards to make sure I don't miss his show. Deliciously cruel.

I've been an unwitting 'feature' when accidentally spilling the contents of my milkshake over a posh woman in a hospitality wristband when leaving. Thankfully not as humiliating as when some punter has drawn the attention of the act that I've enjoyed in the past.

A great cabaret moment was in '09 when it was raining Friday morning and it was busier in there than was usual for the time of day, the compere was getting the crowd to "oooh" "aaah" and cheer in order that people would come and see what the noise was about, within minutes it was fuller than I have ever seen it.

The comedy line up is one area of the festival that has lacked a little "sparkle" in recent years.

Otway is doing the Acoustic tent this year, don't know if he's in Cabaret. And the Steve Frost improv show is in the Theatre tent/Astrolabe.

Robin Ince is recording Infinite Monkey Cage with Brian Cox early Saturday afternoon, probably in Caberet.

The line-up has been pretty poor in recent years: the big acts tend to be missing (Stewart Lee, Bill Bailey, Tim Minchin, etc...) and that's against a backdrop of so many other festivals really expanding and pushing their comedy line-up. Glasto has unfortunately gone from one of the best to one of the worst.

It's also got pretty staid. Yes, there are acts I love to see every year, but from that list someone posted up there, there's only about three acts that weren't on last year. And while some of them are always doing new stuff, others just dredge out the same act every year. It's just all a bit uninspired. I'd probably be equally upset and delighted if they decided to shake it up significantly... but it really needs new blood.

The comments in the style of Stewart Lee on the Guardian site are absolutely brilliant.

I never really knew his work until quite recently, a friend is a huge fan and, sadly, tries to immititate him, badly, all the time.

I'm loving the current series, the IRA piece was genius, certainly told that al qaeda a thing or 2 about how to behave.
