Queueing for U2

My other half is a big U2 fan and has decided to spend all day at the Pyramid stage to ensure his front row spot. Personally I think it's a complete waste of a Glastonbury day but each to their own. I get the feeling that U2 fans are a bit more obsessive than some previous headliners but has anyone ever done this before? Any ideas what time he should arrive (he's guessing 8am) or what time you're allowed to stand at the front from?

Im pretty sure you could stand at the front from 9am wednesday if you really wanted to.

Question is, must he be at the very very front?

If he just wants to be close to the action, then turning up a few acts before U2, late afternoon, along with a perseverance to jostle his way forward will see him get pretty close to the very front.

Although I agree, waste of a precious glasto day if you ask me!

You can stand there overnight if you are crazy enough - I have seen it when its packed and there is no way I would waste my time at the front for all sorts of reasons .

Set out camping chair directly in front of the barrier

Put a couple more camping chairs around you so none of those idiots fall on you

Read paper until U2 come on

Throw paper at inconsiderate youth who fell over your nice new camping chair

Scowl at all the people ruining your good time

Bed by 11:30pm

On the bright side - at least they are on Friday so his stressing over his front row spot for U2 won't dominate the whole weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be lovely!

He won't need to be there that early. Just get there a few acts before then as they finish he'll be able to move forward as the crowd leaves.

I always get the feeling that due to the height if the stage being right at the very front would give you a crap view anyway.

I've also never got why people are huge U2 fans and pay vast sums of money to see exactly the same show night after night

i would be inclined to get inside the barrier for morrisey, then work my way forward during/after his set! sitting all day waiting for one act is something i've never been able to understand! he's going to miss so much around thye rest of the site!

last year during faithless, we got into a right argument with a woman who thought she had the right to lounge around on the floor amongst the crowd, and kick-off at anybody who dared stand on her blanket or stuff! purely because she had been there all day waiting for stevie wonder! like i said, i really dont understand it!

I love being down the front. And it is nice to be on the barrier, the few times I have managed it, but seriously I would have as good a time (when the band were on) as long as I was in the front area and quite close to the stage.

And would also have the added advantage of seeing other things that day. As well as urinating etc.

I took a brekkie stroll at 9am on the morning of Springsteen in 09 and there were a few there already sitting with their backs to the stage. We wandered in just after Kasabian and got right in the pit.

As a massive U2 fan part of me wants to be right down the front but will probably be further back- at my age and after consuming a fair few beers/ciders proximity to a loo is handy!!

Lets hope he doesn't spend all day in the heat (hating all the other bands that are on) with no food or water then U2 come on, there's a surge, he faints and is pulled out at the first song and spends the rest of the set in the first aid tent.

I don't think he needs to but if that's what makes his Glastonbury then go for it. You also have a free day to run round the festival nakid having a blast. Everyone's a winner
