Young people's game goinmg down the front, mark of pride, sense of showing your devotion in an utterly futile gesture, some sort of badge of honour, cos frankly, there's f**k all point, you can't see, you can't hear, you can't breathe and you get kicked in the head.

We don't have national service anymore, we have 'being on the barrier for a headliner'.

I watched a bit of Tom Jones on the Pyramid in '09, left before the end to catch Bat For Lashes on the Other Stage, came back to the Pyramid during Madness (didn't want to miss the beginning, but timed it poorly), slid in at the side, moved forward during Nick Cave, and was in the front row for most of Blur. A nice couple of guys who had been waiting on the barrier did help a bit, as I'm a fairly slight girl, and was getting crushed to pieces and would have had to go over the barrier otherwise... I didn't actually intend to be in the front row, mind - I have seen them hundreds of times, including at all the tiny gigs they did leading up to Glasto, but if you enter about 20-30 rows back, the only way is forward when a band is on - you can't resist the force of tens of thousands of others all shoving in the same direction :P so although it doesn't sound like your husband is listening to reason on the matter, spending the whole day there is not necessary. But then again, what with Glasto being a wonderful field of dreams that accommodates anyone and everyone n all, if that's what would make him happiest at Glasto, maybe it's best to leave him to it...

I can't understand why people would mosh to Plan B. Maybe some of his older stuff you could, but moshing to anything off The Defamation Of Strickland Banks, bar maybe Stay Too Long, doesn't make sense to me. Just people moshing for the sake of it in my eyes. Saying that I don't remember any moshing during his set in Dance East (I think it was East) last year.

No no no... if he's wearing a U2 T-shirt and starts pushing die hard Mozzer fans out of the way then expect the full wrath of the be-quiffed throng to fall upon him. The only way he could get away with it would be to wear a Smiths T-shirt and simply chant 'must get onstage' as he walks to the stage front.

He should get to the front just as Wu Tang Clan get on.

I've only been to the Pyramid barrier once or twice. Primal Scream was one. Great gig, but got a crick in my neck due to looking up all the time.

Think I was at the front for Polyphonic Spree/Mogwai too. That was fun.

As for Macca, I can't believe* people were at the front all day! We watched the Rutles, then strolled over to see the end of BEP. We were about five rows from the front for Macca - and we're not the pushy sort.

*Well, I can, but it seems futile.

Question: Is the stage really that high up that if u r on front rail u wont see a thing. im 5ft 9. E.g. a bit of neck ache (which u get with most gigs any way) or u can just about see the lead singer but the drummer doesnt exist?

and from 2009:

pyramid saturday, right hand side (front) where fence ends and barrier starts (had just wandered there, no real crowd to get through) for Dizzee

glasto2009090.jpg

had managed to move a bit further in for Kasabian (after CS&N)

btw - i love this pic (just sums up glasto for us, beer in hand, sunshine and a smile!!)

park stage dead weather, left hand stage frontglasto2009053.jpg

hope this helps. When you get to the subs/headline on the pyramid, security spend half their time on that step up you can see in the seasick steve pic, pulling people out - so view is obviously then compromised!

I saw Seasick Steve last year a few rows back from the front and managed to get to the front row after his set, thankfully I wanted to see all the acts at the Pyramid anyway and stayed on the front row right through to the end of Muse's set :)

I'd say its pretty easy to get to the front any time before 5pm
