Were Paramore really that bad in 2010? I've seen them a couple times, both in outside & inside settings and they were amazing, one of the best live bands I've seen.

I would also say they're a really strong booking as nowhere else has them this year, this is the first time they'll be back in the UK after Josh & Zac left, they've not played here for 2 years, they sold out arenas the last two tours they did here & they'll attract a lot of first time festival goers, they're very popular with the school leavers age.

I must admit the announcement last night was always going to be a bit of an anti-climax as to be fair Neil had done an awesome job on finding out the majority of the major acts for us (nice work by the way Neil)

For me Paramore were definitely the biggest surprise, never saw that one coming as did probably the majority of people! Whether they prove everyone wrong abit like MCR last year remains to be seen. I know my GF is happy with them playing though as I am sure a few people will be!

As for me, I am trying to look at the line up with how it will read in August time, as some bands will have new albums out, some will be considerably bigger (Black Keys who are going to have a massive year) etc so I am still reserving judgement at the min. For me though the nicest surprise was definitely Bullet for my Valentine-definitely deserve to be higher though!

As for Tenacious D fitting in above the Vaccines, I cant see it myself-just doesnt seem to fit on that day but then again neither does anything else over the entire weekend so maybe it will! I can see some acts being moved around a bit still so I will look forwards to the final poster nearer the actual time of the festival!

Over all the headliners are good, but the under-card lets it down in my opinion. I'm glad I chose Optimus Alive as an alternative; Stone Roses, The Cure & Radiohead headlining for about £100 & that's without mentioning the rest of the brilliant bands playing.

Slightly more on topic though, I could have been persuaded to go to Leeds on the Cure day, had the under-card been good (Pixies or Bloc Party spring to mind) but no way would I endure Paramore again, not even for the Cure.

Anyone else feels this is the year melvin is trying really bump up the reputation of the nme tent, increased capacity last year, some very big bands in there this year that could easily take high main stage slots.

Correct me if im wrong but i think T, V, Glasto and maybe download have a really big second stage that attracts quite big acts. Maybe melvin is trying to bring the nme tent up to that level.

There is so many bands who I have seen before on this line-up, so many who i never seen but want to and bands thats i havnt really listened to and now will because of Leeds!

The Vaccines are 3rd down mainstage at IOW, so it doesn't look as bad in comparison, but maybe it was the slot melvin had to give to get them over V :/

As people have rightly Pointed out, Theres a massive strain on festivals ATM, peaking roughly 3 years ago, they had everything, but everything is very demanding and people wanna see superb lineups, but because of all the (very good festa may I add) smaller fests like latitude, bestival, hop farm etc.. Pulling these superb bands the lineup at r/l is weaker... The desire to stop the festival headliners being repetitive means good subs like MCR and Biffy are being pushed up too early IMO and as a result they get worse lineups.

I think Leeds and reading will have to have a complete overhaul next year! As I know I only have one festival lined up and that's Glastonbury, but I'd like to try a new festival like latitude!

Its like Melvin booked a load of bands, cut up covered them in glue and chucked them on a piece of paper and just left them where they landed, some of the placement is extremely puzzling to say the least. Also theres got to be a lot of pressure on him for failing to secure a better sub than paramore, Franz Ferdinand were a much better option, as were Bloc Party, but id imagine he lost both of them to headline Bestival...

I still don't understand that Friday, no such much that Paramore are subbing it's that there's nothing on that day that fits with The Cure. There's loads of acts that have been influenced by The Cure so why have they made a line up that looks like Give It A Name and then have The Cure play afterwards?
