U2 Told to "Keep It Real"

IU2 are known for dropping in snippets of well known songs entwined into their songs - I am guessing

they will plump for some glasto legend related stuff such as joe strummer or even some wurzels!

Saw them at 360 Tour in Sheffield a couple of years ago with Elbow in support, not surprised to see them together on the bill.

To be honest as an all-round event it was probably the best gig I've ever been to. The crowd and atmosphere wasn't a patch on the Glastonbury ones, I guess there was a large frequency of 'older people' who never seem to get as pumped as younger crowds (Prodigy on the Other Stage in 09 was brutal). The show was immense though. I'm 16 and very few of my friends like U2 at all and its a massive shame, they're seriously missing out and I think it's down to a misconception of their talents. Their last couple of albums haven't been on the level of Achtung Baby and Joshua Tree and they've become a band that people love to hate, to the point were people my age almost universally sneer at them.

Ah well, their loss.

I'll just say that the best live video I've seen of U2 is far and away ZOOTV.

My only song requests are The Fly, Bad, New Year's Day and Until the End of the World as they haven't appeared on 360 a great deal and I haven't heard them live. It'd also be great if they played Unforgettable Fire, that was a real highlight at Sheffield 2009.

I will die happy if we get 'One' and I will stamp my feet if we don't get 'Party girl' which reminds me of my wild, rebellious teenage years. I know this is unlikely but I want it.

That setlist must have:

Gloria

Where the streets have no name

Sweetest thing

New years day

Sunday bloody sunday

Vertigo

With or without you

I'll go crazy

Pretty much spot on as usual, though I'd say Sunday Bloody Sunday would be rated good chance to guaranteed...especially as they have played it as a pro-democracy song over this tour and the situation in Libya will probably mean it'll be played...

Gig of the year so far (though Go Team in the Academy were on great form tonight, not in the same league though)...

Yeah, they'd be perfect alright. They're playing Bonnaroo and another festival after that in Colorado which means they'll be back in the states in June, but that's finished on the 19th, so theoretically they could be back on this side of the pond...The 2007 show was great as well, if anything, Colin is an even more polished performer now, he certainly had everyone in the palm of his hand the other night...love to see them again, but happy that at least I got to see them this year anyway.

On the subject of U2 playing unusual songs I've had a hunch for a while that Bono and the boys might return the favour that Muse did them last year and have Bellamy (or the 3 of them) come on stage for a cover. I'd love to hear them have a go at Plug-In Baby...

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
