2012 Olympics

Applied for two events, got nada - I'll try again for something the next time round ; disagree with the system in so much that it allowed those who have more money to gamble to have a much better chance of getting something, but realise that not everyone can go to the events they want. Just hope to get something semi-decent to say "I was there".

And Ovett over Coe every damn time.

I have two tickets to see the badminton and two for the football. Pretty happy with that although neither of those events are at the Olympic park so might have to take a detour through there on the way to Wembley.

There has been a lot of talk over the last few days on the radio in Sydney about some countries not wanting to attend the Olympics because of the riots. Anyone think there's any chance this could happen?

Premier Inn have released their hotel prices... £200 per room per night... The great Olympic Rip Off has started...

EDIT: Actually to be fair... It seems that Premier Inn rooms are regularly over £100... Still its a hefty hike...

To all those looking for Olympic accomodation around London, i finally got mine sorted tonight, Best Western hotels had a triple room (3 singles) for £75 a night! Slightly out of central London (ours is in Harrow but seeing as we're going to Wembley it's not a million miles away). All seem to have good guest ratings and are 3 stars. Seemed like a rather good bargain! :D

hang on though ... maybe I misread the London Riots thread, but weren't you critising Neil for not living by example (contributing to the consumerist society when believing against it). How is contributing to the poor being priced out of a sporting event, while believing against it, any different?

I don't believe either of you are wrong in the actions you've done and the lives you lead, but it seems like double standards from you when looking at what you've posted in other threads.

BBC to show some coverage in 3D

http://www.bbc.co.uk...d-coverage.html

Oh and apparently VirginMedia customers with their TiVo service will get access to all 24 streams covering all the events via a new BBC Sports App for the service.

then we shouldn't carry on with the dismantling of the NHS

I'd have thought that'd give a pretty bad image too

possibly worse in the long run

definitely worse for its citizens

or is the image more important?

ol' Warsi again!

she just gets more and more annoying

she'll probably be prime minister one day

Nah ... the sorts of morons who might buy into the sort of guff she spouts on cue as Dave Moron's poodle would never vote for a Muslim.

I can't work out if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.
    • BBC iPlayer: Will serve as the main hub for past sets, including both recent hits and iconic archival gems. You can explore the BBC iPlayer to watch curated compilations, "Best of Glastonbury" recaps, and on-demand replays of historic headline performances. [1, 2, 3] TV Broadcasts (BBC Two & BBC Three): The channels will air dedicated compilation shows. Leading up to the weekend, you can watch archive programming such as Glastonbury: 70s Legends, 80s Legends, and 90s Legends on BBC Two. [1] Radio & BBC Sounds: Pop-up Glastonbury radio stations on BBC Sounds will feature non-stop coverage, including exclusive mixes and huge sets from past years
    • Got HBO Max to watch football so watched One Battle After Another which is a great film and deserves its awards and then rewatched Magnolia and that is a flipping amazing film...so much in it. (also rewatching Angels In America series which is also amazing).
