I've been going to Leeds Festival every year since 2004 but judging from the rumours for this year it could be time for me to give it a miss. If the rumoured headliners are to be believed then they really are uninspired bookings and out of the rest of the rumours we've got so far theres only Pulp I'd be interested in seeing. I know people will say wait for the announcement but I just dont think it bodes well for the festival. I was gonna go to sonisphere and leeds, out of the 24 bands at sonispere so far theres 18 i want to see. Thats usually the case with leeds after the announcement but I dont see it happening this year. Anyone else share these concerns?

i always buy my tickets day before the festival anyway, cheap on ebay got it for 125 last year so I'll see how it pans out. Very excited about sonisphere tho, get to see my two favourite (still touring) bands, Metallica and Weezer in one weekend!

i think download and sonisphere are quicker off the mark and take most of the rock bands leaving reading/leeds to settle for indie bands and the remaining rock bands where in the past there was no soni/download so reading/leeds had the pick off all bands and could but a better quality line up with more variety. to be fair tho,it hasnt affected ticket sales so i dont see them losing any sleep over it any time soon.

saying that, they managed to put together a half decent line up last year as opposed to 2009 so maybe theyve had to up thier game a bit due to more competition.

i,myself will be quite happy with strokes and muse but wont br interested in MCR.the unfortunate thing for me personally is that strokes and muse will prob clash with lock up days so i will have to miss lock up headliners.it would suit me if i could watch one of the lock up headliners when MCR are on.

Sory, but I don't think we can say that download and sonisphere have outdone anybody. Biffy Clyro and Slipknot are not good enough or big enough to headline R+L. Metallica would be uninspired for Reading having headlined recently, they're even more uninspired for Sonisphere having headlined even more recently. Download have booked Linkin Park, an equally uninspired booking for the same reason. Only System can really be seen as an achievement from either of these festivals.

Ive been coming on this forum since 2004 and this thread comes up at the same time every year, with the same response.

There are 4 bands rumoured out of 110 that will be playing, you cant even begin to pass judgement until we know the first 20 bands or so, or even the tent headliners.

I have never expected to like all 3 headliners and there's only been 2 years where I have liked all 3 but I do expect to see at least 1 I actually want to see regardless if they would be playing a the fests or not and based on the talk this year suggest there want be, so yep underwhelmed.

After that performance at Download in 2009 Slipknot will only headline now. Add to the fact that their shows/tour will be much more infrequent with members having their side projects & Corey soon to be announced as the new Velvet Revolver frontman.

Demand for Slipknot shows will increase as their availability reduces.

    • Considering how popular of a booking Scooter have been I think they'd go down well
    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
