The Monkees

If this does happen...see you all at the usual/traditional Efests Sunday meet up spot!

For those who are not aware of this spot, its on the left side of the (4th) speaker stack on the far right of the field (if looking at the stage). The one nearest the Mandela Bar. Does that makes sense? Couldnt find a decent pic to demonstrate.

But Nesmith has had little to do with the band, certainly live, for many many years- unfortunately for us.

I saw Peter Tork at The Acoustic Festival a few years back. He was playing some blues stuff but through in a few Monkees numbers every now and then. He looked like he hated playing them but went down a storm.

According to Wikipedia he was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 so I don't know if he'd be able to play or not.

The monkees would be the PERFECT Sunday afternoon band. I'm going to call Michael Eavis now, put on my Jean-Luc Picard voice and say 'Make it so'.

Nice to see a thread hit page 2 without some twonk turning up saying 'Not the bloody Monkees, I hate them, they're just not Glastonbuty, so overated, not worthy' blah etc blah.

I don't recall it, but according to Wikipedia, Nesmith left the UK tour because his musicianship had deteriorated to the point that he couldnt play some of the solos. Seems a bit weird. I've never heard of that happening to anyone before.

I know that they're not playing but had a browse at their setlist from Liverpool from last night.

I'm a Believer; Mary, Mary ; The Girl I Knew Somewhere ; She Hangs Out ; Randy Scouse Git ; Your Auntie Grizelda ; It's Nice to Be With You ; I Don't Think You Know Me At All ; Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow) ; Words ; Cuddly Toy ; Papa Gene's Blues ; Listen to the Band ; That Was Then, This is Now ; All of Your Toys ; Hard To Believe ; What Am I Doin' Hangin' Round? ; Sometime in the Morning ; Valleri ; No Time ; Circle Sky ; Can You Dig It? ; As We Go Along; Do I Have to do this All Over Again? ; Porpoise Song ; Daddy's Song ; For Pete's Sake ; When Love Comes Knocking At Your Door ; She; A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You ; Shades of Gray ; Last Train to Clarksville ; Goin' Down ; I Wanna be Free ; Saturday's Child ; Someday Man ; I'm Not Your (Steppin' Stone) ; Daydream Believer ; Peter Percival's ; Pet Pig Named Porky ; Pleasant Valley Sunday

Even if they only played half of the 40 tracks, they'd have gone down a storm.

40 songs, thats Macca and Springsteen territory.

Gutted that they're not playing.
