Weather thread 2011

Ok, I'm switching to TWO now from Netweather, purely because it's more positive!

The rain doens't look too bad. Look at this Friday - 14.7mm between 6pm and 9pm! There's nothing like that for the fest. 1.2mm during a 3 hours window on the Wednesday is the most.

Also just checked the radar and the expected red splurge that was heading my way seems to have not dumped it's load.

I have put this down to the postman arriving and the fact of 25 years of Glasto on and off attending where I always seem to miss the really bad weather.

So in my odd shrouded world it's going to turn out fine again.

Right the postman he has just brought me my waterproof jackets. (very reasonable they where too, 40 quid the pair and one comes with a fleece.

Just tested it on the tap and they work a treat.

Therefore I expect sun now.....

Ok this is getting silly. In less than a week’s time I will be walking round the festival, hopefully seeing all sorts of diversity including, semi clad ladies, naked women / men and lots of other things that outside of Glasto would not be appropriate or to some to be offensive. The reason we put up with it at Glasto is that the majority of people at Glasto are adult and open minded people. Right?

I don't do drugs and i know they are illegal, do I go running to the cops every time i see someone smoking a spliff? No i don’t. I just let them get on with it even though I find it offensive.

So how should the forum be any different? Mr Efestivals, did you actually get complaints from people asking the post's to be removed?

Also reading this thread and the language is most offensive and most of it is coming out of your mouth. (I know, I should “STFU” and Ban myself)

Let's all chill people, this is supposed to be the greatest time of the year....come rain or shine.

Ohh and i think i will give the eFestivals meet a miss, to much anger around and it might kick off.

wow - was that this morning? :D Have to say, here just outisde Brizzle, even though there's been a fair amount of rain over the past week, it's been in short bursts and the ground keeps drying up really quickly, hopefully because it's been such a dry Spring.

I think it's going to be just fine. ;)

It has occurred to me that last year, I prevaricated for ages before buying some trekking sandals for Glastonbury because I was afriad of offending the weather gods by buying something for good weather. In the end I decided that if it was sunny, I would be really sorry I hadn't bought them so I decided to risk it............and look what happened!

Of course I also took all manner of wet weather gear, but it is possible that my purchase of something sunny weather related is the key to success.

I am going shopping this weekend and would value your suggestions for all possible SUN related purchases for this year. Thank you!

Defo get a brolly. (not for the rain but for the sun)

A tarp! (not to cover your self from rain) but to sit on.

Some comfy wellingtons! (not for mud) but a fashion statement. You could even but a r on one and l on another.

A weather proof coat... It gets cold at night

There's a few sun related items.

I'm travelling down to somerset today to spend some time there with friends before the festival and basically have to pack for glasto now! I've been looking at the same forecast for a couple of days and it says there may be some light rain but it'll be dry most of the time and kinda warm but not blistering. Do people reckon this is accurate? Otherwise im gonna be taking down so many sets of clothes...

    • When are  the stage splits ??
    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
