Football 2010-2011

As far as I'm concerned they should give every single bit of football on Sky to Jeff Stelling. The guy's a legend and would be brilliant presenting the live games. But they wouldn't give him both sunday and saturday so he should stick to soccer saturday where the anchor role is a lot more challenging.

I think they should give Richard Keys the soccer saturday role for one week as a public humiliation and punishment

No woman has ever taken a lead role for football on a channel dedicated entirely to sport. Never.

Why must I always have to point out the glaringly obvious to you, but no one else?

yes they have. i remember celtic played aberdeen. first day of the season. and it was some leggy blonde as the host with frank mcavenny and someone else as guest. she shared lead role with jim white that season.

I was going to post about the cracking goal scored by Carton Cole last night.

But then I realised that he's no more capable of scoring an excellent goal than he is a lucky goal. I've wised up since last week you see.

And I was going to post about Liverpool's lucky goal last night, but apparently ping-pong like that amongst defenders is only ever the result of the efforts of the attackers.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

About a week ago I said that Liverpool were easily in sight of 7th, and now they're there. If they'd not lost to Blackpool they'd now be close behind Sunderland and set to overtake them.

While they didn't play great last night they were well on top during just about all of the game, and while they won with a flukey goal they had a good Torres goal ruled out for offside in the first few minutes - which had the crowd singing "there's only one Sian Massey".:lol:

And Meireles is starting to look a superb player. Stevie who?

Liverpool are looking a different team under Kenny, but they're still limited by the quality of some of their players. If they get the biggest world cup cheat ever and Adam that'll be a step up for them.

The one thing Kenny's done that I'm less sure about is him playing JonJo Shelby (tho only as sub). I'm finding it hard to see him as an improvement over the other players, but perhaps he needs more games.

They are, but whenever I see this sort of thing it really does make you question the players. Yes Kenny might have tweaked a few things but effectively they are just trying and working harder at the mo. That they didn't do the same for Hodgson is pretty poor if you ask me.

yep, from one angle that's spot on.

But i reckon that Kenny pretty much nailed it in the first interview he gave after taking the job - that it's a job that's about man management, and when it comes to things like that you've either got it or you haven't.

I reckon many of the players were bewildered by all the goings on at the club, and Kenny was exceedingly smart at the start by saying he took the job to work with the current players, and not to buy in. Loving them up a little with those words in public (and probably more of the same in private) could have been all that they needed.

I think Buffoon is being quote at £20m when City came calling (at his age  ) and De Gea would be around £15m (not sure but I think it's his buy out cluase on his contract) so not too bad. The real problem would be if another team comes in and offers better wages.

At least it's better than the Allan McGregor rumour that was floating about a while ago.

    • I really like the Cheap Thrills! I saw them at the Ruby Lounge in Manchester in January at one of Chris Hawkins' "Awesome Friends" nights (which i think is why I even got tickets as it wasn't listed as a Cheap Thrills show!). Very good live and some great songs. I would've gone Saturday if I'd planned ahead!
    • They also seem to be in a mission to break the US with their new major label and this latest LP   Mid afternoon, live streamed on Disney+ is arguably a much bigger gig than Kendal Calling, if they had to skip one
    • This is massively exciting. I've been curious to who will be provide vocals for their live show and this is mega!
