PS: Great comeback by Utd last night, tho I've seen nothing of that match.

Have been meaning to post since the weekend that, while I only saw the highlights, Utd looked absolutely awesome in that match, quite possibly for the first time this season. If they keep playing like that then the league is theirs again.

say what you like about gray (and i do), but he'll be big boots to fill.

you're having a giraffe.

There's hundreds of thousands of people in this country who could talk bollocks about football no worse than Gray did.

And those hundreds of thousands would be very happy to do it for £50k a year or less, rather different to the £1.7M a year that Gray was getting for being worthless. ;)

has he ever co-commentated before? he's bad enough as just a pundit, i wouldn't like to hear him for 90 minutes then the analysing afterwards.

i only came in to ask a couple of questions about bearded theory, though id have a little look to see what was going on in here and forgot to logout

i see nothings changed

ampersand still knows almost nothing about the beautiful game

nal is still a master of extracting urine

steve (much as it pains me) is just about the most knowledgeable bloke in here

and neil is still the biggest one eyed biased arsenal aldershot fan in the world

hope your all well

I'm sure that Gray apparently suing the NotW is in the mix somewhere, but it's also blindingly obvious that at least some people within Sky have been looking for an opportunity to take him down. Does the woman who he essentially sexually harrasses look pleased with him? Does she f**k - and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that she's been one of those who have helped stir this up to get him sacked.

I'm also pretty certain that huge pressure will have been put on Sky by the Prem. They aren't going to accept one of the main faces of their game being so out of step with how they run their game.

There might well be stuff like Gray suing NotW in the mix, but the simple fact is that Gray has shown himself as completely unsuitable for the role he's had at Sky, and there's no getting away from that part of things.

Gray hasn't suddenly changed. He's been like it ever since it started in 1992 and it's never been an issue, Sky turned a blind eye. Now, they're leaking evidence left, right, and centre. For one reason. If you choose not to believe so, so be it.

I've not been thinking that Gray has changed. I'm thinking that the world has - because it has.

Those sorts of things would have been far more acceptable back in '92 than they are now. Over the years, the offence caused by actions like those that have been exposed would have grown and grown, but I wouldn't have thought that many if any of the staff within Sky would have felt able to knock Gray off his perch because of it. It takes something that's pretty indisputable to dislodge a 'star' that's as embedded within a broadcaster as he was at Sky.

For example, I don't think that the '2nd video' of him and the female presenter would have been enough by itself to get him sacked. While from one angle it's sexual harassment, from another it's just a blokey joke in the workplace - I'm not suggesting it's acceptable, but it is the sort of thing that a 'star' could talk his way around. But coming straight after him slating the lineswoman only on the basis of her gender it adds to the overall effect.

I realise that someone or various people within Sky are "leaking evidence left, right, and centre", but those leaks don't have to necessarily be coming from the top. That female presenter in the 2nd video might well have been the person who leaked that one, or it could be any number of Sky's crew - if Gray is disliked enough within Sky by a number of their staff and they've been looking for an opportunity to take him down, then it's quite possible that that is all there is to it.

After all, the staff members that work with him would know of the occasions he's been out of order and be able to pull those instances straight off the shelf. The 'big bosses' quite possibly had no idea that Gray is such a tit, so wouldn't have the ammunition to bring him down.
