but if they'd have been more adventurous, they might have got beat say 3-0 last night? which is hardly an embarrasment.

I agree, but by only being beaten 1-0 over the two legs, they can (wrongly) convince themselves that they're nearly as good as Man Utd - when both you and I are able to recognise that if they'd tried to compete evenly they'd have very likely to have been shown up as far weaker than that.

I'm not saying they were wrong to decide to park the bus in front of the goal - after all, that was their most realistic chance of getting a result if luck had been fallen their way - but the result they got by playing how they played gives a wrong impression of their relative strengths.

I have no idea, but I would argue that around the time of the 2002 World Cup he was one of the best defenders in the world.

Yep, 18mil when he left West Ham and 29mil when he left Leeds, Anelka's the most expensive because he keeps moving clubs.

The record I posted is in relation to serie A and la liga only. Kris Boyd has never played in one of the worlds best leagues so its hard to compare the 2.

i'm not comparing him to kris boyd. i'm saying i'd imagine his record is flattering in the way boyd's is where he scored bucket loads against the weaker teams, and failed to impress against the top teams.

martin o'neil mentioned it at euro 2006 i think. saying that larsson carried ibrahimovic in interntational terms anyway. and i think he has a point. i've just never been overly impressed with him when i've seen him. he's a big lazy tit like berbatov!

i think all you have to look at is how sweden do in the next decade without larsson. with him from 94-06, they were a very good nation. you'd think with zlatan as the main man, they'd be going from strength to strength.

i appreciate that larsson played in a lesser league at his peak, but there's no denying he's one of the greatest players to play the game in recent years. just google what other people say about him like ronaldinho and eto'o.
