I still fancy Madrid to win it. They were only third favourites behind Barcelona and Chelsea not so long ago. They're now 11/4 joint favourites with Barce.

you think? i thought it was awful. severely lacking in quality with the players on show.

it was far better than I expected, even tho the game was played exactly as I'd expected.

There were some dreadful performances mind - berba comes to mind, I'm not sure he played a straight pass all night. I thought Rooney did pretty well tho, considering he didn't see much of the ball, and ignoring the fact that he was having directional problems with his shots.

i didn't realise that if valencia won then rangers were out if they didn't. seems smith probably didn't realise that either. they had nothing to lose cos valencia were always going to win!

They've been playing some good stuff this season when I've seen them.

Celebrations were rampant in my house when United got that penalty for the goal I needed for my fivefold.

It wasn't uninteresting to watch but if i was a Rangers fan i would have been angry.

With nothing to lose why not play attacking football. Yes they would have left themselves more open at the back (against a misfiring Utd) but they were assured a Europa league spot anyway.

It was effectively a knock out cup game for them, so their tactics baffled me

while that might well all be true, I was still surprised by how much attacking Rangers actually did - it wasn't much, it was still much more than I expected.

decennt odds for those five! i've stopped with european betting though. i'm bad enough at domestic which i'm supposed to know about!

But i thought Rooney played well, took the penalty very well, hit the crossbar with a good header.

His other shots were pretty poor but his movement and passing was getting back to his best. He looks much fitter.

agree with all of that - aside from him having trouble shooting straight (something affecting the whole Utd team last night) I thought he had a very decent game, even tho he didn't see too much of the ball*.

(* was that due to the formation Utd played, or him being marked out of the game much of the time? I couldn't work out which it was)

Listening to Ronaldo and Messis stats on a podcast I was amazed. I think messi is 70 goals in the last 67 games and ronaldo 41 in the last 40. I still think its ridiculous even last season that the media were grouping rooney in this so called world elite of 3 players. When it comes to attacking players these 2 are clearly in a class of their own.
