Strong reports that Lindegaard's a done deal now. £2m upfront, another £1.5m in installments according to Norwegian media. medical tomorrow supposedly.

Doesn't really rule out the possibility of the De Gea signing, as could well be signing as no.2. If Fergie doesn't deem Kuszczak good enough to replace VDS as a no.1, then he'll be off. Kuszczak wants first team football.

De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos from next season?

If both get signed and announced prior to Jan window, then pretty sure indicator that VDS's retiring.

Manchester United are on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign David De Gea, the Spain Under-21 goalkeeper, from Atlético Madrid in January.

Talks are at an advanced stage after several weeks of negotiations, with United expected to pay a fee in the region of £15 million for the 20-year-old. It was unclear last night whether De Gea would join United in January or see out the season at Atlético before formally completing a move to Old Trafford in the summer.

With Edwin van der Sar, who turned 40 last month, expected to retire at the end of the season, Sir Alex Ferguson has made it a priority to find a long-term successor to the former Holland goalkeeper and, after a long and extensive search, the manager identified De Gea as his first-choice target.

Tomasz Kuszczak seems unlikely to remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer, so United could make a move for a second goalkeeper and retain a firm interest in Anders Lindegaard. The 6ft 4in Denmark player, 26, plies his trade with Aalesund in Norway and has already drawn comparisons to his compatriot, Peter Schmeichel, the former United goalkeeper.

An imposing figure at almost 6ft 4in, De Gea was part of the Atlético team who defeated Fulham 2-1 in the Europa League final in May and, three months later, he saved a penalty from Diego Milito, the Argentina striker, to help the Spanish side to win the European Super Cup against Inter Milan.

De Gea, who is contracted until June 2013 at Atlético, rejected the chance to join Wigan Athletic last year.

Ferguson’s desire to sign De Gea was such that the United manager missed United’s Carling Cup third-round tie away to Sc**thorpe United in September to run the rule over him with Eric Steele, the club’s goalkeeping coach, during a Spanish league game between Atlético and Valencia.

that's hilarious - the company that he tried to screw Liverpool with are now screwing him.

That article appears to confirm what was suggested around the Liverpool court cases, that Gillett had taken out two loans, both using the same thing as collateral for both. I'm not sure how things stand with that legally in the states, but in the UK doing that is illegal - it's essentially the same thing as getting a mortgage to buy a house (with the house as collateral for that mortgage), and then going around other mortgage companies and re-mortgaging the house and using the same house as collateral for those too. It seems pretty likely that it's illegal in the states too.

Aside from the fact that Mill have been stupid beyond belief in not checking out Gillett and finding out what was public knowledge, I'm wondering if there's going to be more come-back on Gillett about this than him merely getting sued.

<P class=first>Blackburn have been purchased by the Rao family from India for about £43m. Under the deal, BBC Sport understands Rovers' shares have been acquired for £23m with a debt in the region of £20m also taken on by the new owners.

The trust set up by late former owner Jack Walker to own the club has sold its 99.9% holding to the newly-formed company Venky's London Limited.

What happens with the Walker Trust now? I'd thought it was trust set-up to run the footie club.

And I was wondering if Blackburn has been bought by an Indian family/firm because of the number of originally-Indian families around that area? Tho I could be completely wrong about them being 'Indian', I'm unsure of the exact background of the immigrants (and their British-born descendents) from that part of the world.

The standard of football in the premiership is very poor this year, making it an interesting league. The better chelsea, arsenal and man utd teams of recent years would have walked this league already. Spurs have this season had a big boost with vdv and bale delivering on the potential shown at the end of last season. I look at the midfields of chelsea and man utd and find them pretty uninspiring in comparison with both in major need of a flair player in the middle of the pitch. Arsenal will be Arsenal and the current set of players wont find the consistency to win the league. Its frustrating because I would like to see a different winner than man utd or chelsea and arsenal could easily do it with just a few signings.
