Whilst many of the comments are thoughtless and moronic, I think I agree with the general point.

There's a million and one TV channels, why does a president's speech have to be broadcast on all of them?

Sport for many people is an escape. If viewers want to read, see, watch etc, news about the terrible tragedy, there's lots of means to do so. If you've had your fill of the news, or wish to catch up at another time, why shouldn't you be able to watch sport at a time when sport is scheduled on that particular channel?

Interesting that all 31 pro gun US senators declined an open invitation to speak on "Meet the Press". Joe Manchin being the only pro gun senator to speak out.

Also, good to see Michael Bloomberg throwing the first punch: "He's the president of the United States and if he does nothing during his second term, something like 48,000 Americans will be killed with illegal guns. That's is roughly the number of Americans killed during the whole Vietnam war"

I'd love to be as fly on the wall as all these politicians get to discover that the police lie.

No shit sherlock, some of us have known that for years because the police have lied (and not merely in an email to a politician about whether someone said 'pleb' or not) about us too.

Will this bring about a revision in attitudes towards the police? Not a chance. Just think back a few months to when people were being locked up for saying things like "the only good copper is a dead one" - because that's the truth beyond all doubt*.

(* no one is 'good' 100% of the time, so there are no good coppers just as there's no good citizens).

Terribly negative way of look at people that...

Yeah we all fuck up and act the twat sometimes... Doesn't mean we get view people as being good if the vast majority of what they have done is / was good.

the point i'm getting at is that coppers are just people, no different to anyone else. And that gets to mean that they're no less likely to lie as anyone else.

There's an idea within the criminal justice system that the old bill are the ones to always believe when there's differing versions of any event, and yet the reality is that they've got more of a reason to lie than a truly independent witness of the same event might have, because their job reputation is based around their success rate .... and so the likelihood of them (at the very least) stretching the truth to their advantage is much higher than is standardly thought.

    • Same’s happened at MSG recently with Rush and Phish alternating nights. I guess each band has its own unique production so their riggers will be kept busy
    • The rumour was uk arena tour late this year.  Same as Charli xcx cant be announced until Reading headline is done.
    • Latest from the sun at least is that harry is still headlining but Olivia has turned down a spot next year to work on new music and hope for 2028.   So they can't have Fender, Fontaines, Harry, Olivia and Madonna.
    • I mean I don't think EC and FFDP are borderline sub, they wouldn't be any lower now.   2025 is about as strong as Bloodstock gets yet this year only one headline would sub and the others would play 3rd down or lower.    Machine Head wouldn't sub at Download regardless of rarity, they don't sell enough tickets and I'm not sure Gojira would sub either. Their last UK tour was a mix of smaller arenas and academy dates. Ally Pally being the only London date, not even Wembley Arena.
    • live music / main stage will generally end around 11pm but theres dj’s and late goings on right till 4am if you are so inclined.   Drinks are about £7.50 a pint probably and yes theres lots of mixed drinks / spirits / cocktails available to buy   wonderful festival, back for my third year in a row and 4th overall
