Not with a 1 year old attempting maximum destruction of the living room. One eye on the laptop, one on The Boy.

I told him some joker had suggested Kasabian, and he cried his little eyes out. I hope you're happy now. You've RUINED my little boy's Sunday. Bastards.

Hands down the most depressing forum topic i have ever read on these boards..i cannot believe the c**ts who have crawled out of the woodwork. more worrying is that i am sharing a festival with these twats..why would you be pleased that a huge booking like U2 are potential going to be cancelled? i'm prob not watching u2 but would never wish this on the festival and the eavis'. i'm sure the eavis' must be delighted to read there are such positive and kind people coming to their farm in june.

I assume from what people are saying that Bono is currently residing in America? Otherwise, if they are heading to America then Ireland to England isn't a hard flight. They'll probably still play

Not a fan of U2 myself but I hope he gets better soon. A lot of other people seem to like him so I don't see why people are getting annoyed about it. If you don't like them then go watch something else.

so you just thought you'd quickly pop on and tell all the haters why you hate them? does all the swearing at people make you feel better, or is this all just some *ironic* stuff that's just wooshed over my head?

not really all that 'positive' and 'kind' yourself are you?

this is a fair point, and i recognized the 'irony' when i wrote it - the swearing was meant to add a humorous edge to my rather blunt post, but now rereading it i can see it would seem a little harsh..i wrote it when i was very angry though...still think they are arses though...

Oh for f**ks sake, it's half 9 in the f**king morning. Far too early to read such vomit-enducing, offensive bollocks like this.

Sheesh.

Yeah - let's book Kasabian to take U2's place. A bit like crashing your Aston Martin and given a Skoda as a courtesy car. Or Rooney being injured for the world cup, only to be replaced with Ian Ormondroyd.

Bah.

This post has made me grumpy.

Kasabian indeed.

They were rehearsing in France when he injured himself, so he ended up in Munich. The guy who has operated has been the Doctor of Larry Mullen Jnr for years, as he has a pretty knackered back too. He also treats all of the Germany squad blah blah blah so I guess he's rather good at what he does

Next time you're at a U2 gig early enough to leave gifts for the band (like the old woman who aggressively questioned my mum about what flowers she should buy only to cut my mum down to size with "What? There is no way Daniel O'Donnell would like those") I'd go for a copy of The Emperor's New Clothes. Apparently there's a moral about not getting trousers from foreigners or something.

I don't think people are being negative on the whole. There's bound to be people with strong feelings regarding Bono and U2 and never wanted them to play. I don't think anyone wants to see anyone in pain.

Most people are just excited about the possibility of getting their 'dream' headliner to replace U2 if they can't make it.

Its like when everyone found out about Michael Jackson dying. Everyone was excited about the news. There was a real buzz about the place. Doesn't mean they wanted him dead. It was just exciting news. But I'm not saying Bono putting his back out is anyway in the same league as MJs death.

No matter who fills the void if it doess happen, more people will be more disappointed with the replacement than when U2 were first announced.

I cannot believe the rubbish I have read in this thread, I think there is a lot of dreaming being done.

GFL is a business, headliners are used to sell tickets, the festival has sold out so there is absolutely no need to replace the headliner with a fresh act.

GFL will be insured for bands pulling out, as will U2 for any reason why they cannot headline protecting their fee. So Eavis now has the chance to get a headliner on the cheap, whilst keeping his headliner fee.

No big band is going to replace U2, far to many egos amongst the worlds biggest bands to be considered as just replacements to U2.

The line up will just move up the bill by one, step up Dizzee Rascal, you all know this is what will happen so stop dreaming & accept it...

Unless I am wrong & Emily makes that call to Chris Martin.....

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
