Agree with all the above! :P

But do make sure you also check out their earlier (& weirder!!) albums especially Transmissions from the Satellite Heart which has one of my favourite songs on 'She Don't Use Jelly'

Yus, Yoshimi and Soft Bulletin are the most approachable albums.

The older stuff is almost unlistenable at first, but you can get into it.

I never really got into Mystics or Embryonic, but I absolutely love the Dark Side of the Moon cover -- and I'm certainly not a Pink Floyd fan.

Oh dear this is a hard decision. I'm definitely more of a FLIPS fan and have seen them play numerous times, each really special and fun. I won't ever pay to see U2 though, so this is probably the only chance I'll ever have to see them. But then I really dislike Bono and I really love Wayne.

Decisions are rubbish :S Need a TARDIS.

Yeah this is a tricky one.

I prefer Flaming Lips.

But I've seen them live in Hammersmith.

Then again I missed the 2003 Flaming Lips Glasto set and not sure if I can miss them again.

But this is probably my only chance to see U2 and they cost a lot more to see live.

Won't make a decision until the day most likely.

I'd say listen to the Soft Bulletin and you'll the hear one of the greatest opening tracks of album (in my opinion) and they usually open the concert with it to boot. If its true that their clashing with U2 then I'll be very sad. I've seen the Flaming Lips more times than I care to mention but I do think that U2 at the Pyramid stage is a once in a lifetime event.

p.s. Clouds Taste Metallic is aces (particuarly Lightning Strikes The Postman)

'Tis funny but when it was only a rumour that the Flaming Lips would be up against U2, I was thinking 'well Flaming Lips are one of my favourite bands but I've seen them a zillion times & I'd like to see U2 but would never pay their prices so will probably go to see them'..........

Line up is announced & I'm now like 'Hot Chip followed by Flaming Lips!! I'm not moving from the Other Stage on Friday night'!! :P

Hit to Death in the Future Head has always been my favourite. The album opener "Talkin bout the smiling deathporn immortality blues (everyone wants to live forever)" is an absolute classic.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
