How many Fests do you have to attend

Though for many the first Glasto was their 'awakening' if you like, tbh it was my second that really blew me away. In 1994, I remember just treating it as a bit of a different venue in which to get trashed, and my impression of the place was largely confined to Babylon. In 1995, the weather helped take me far and wide around the site which opened my eyes to the extend and variety of events and places there were to explore.

No, that was just sticky, yucky, shitty mud. The conditions were worse in 2007 IMHO but that flood in 2005 was simply incredible. But it soon cleared and the Sunday was lovely.

A quick summary:

2005: Biblical for a few hours

2007: British for a whole f**king week

I've only been five times. 2002 - 2004, and the last two. I've not been hugely wet apart from one afternoon in 2004.

Surely you've got to have battled through one of the very wet years to at least think about staking a claim to be a Glasto 'Veteran'.

While the downpour in 2005 was simply biblical, provided your tent didnt get washed away / end up at the bottom of a brand new lake it wasnt that bad overall. 2007 was about as bad weather as you can ever expect for a festival, i'd say 'british for a week' is being complementary to the weather unless maybe youre talking about manchester, in winter!

Some of the newbies have been lucky the last couple of years! Long may it continue!

Although for me a veteran isn't necessarily the number of times. If you went just once in every decade, that surely counts more than having gone in every one of the 2000s?

i am from manchester and ok i say it holds up to the reputation of raining but i can't remember last time i saw rain like what was at G'07 from what i saw on TV and what was told to me by my cousin

Haha i remember 2005 so well. There i was a 14 year old never been to any live music event of my life and it was sunny as f**k for the first two days. Woke up on friday morning and was like

I'd left my bag out of the tent too so all my stuff was wet.

Pedantic git that I am I just couldn't help but look it up; and remarkably the writers of the Oxford English Dictionary seemed to have had Glastonbury well in mind:

"veteran:

• noun 1 a person who has had long experience in a particular field."

Clearly the 'field' in question is Worthy Farm. So the only question left is whether 5 days counts as 'long experience' ????????

Doing some reading on Glasto to try and prepare myself this year and found an article that I quite liked. Didn't mention anything about veteran's but did coina phrase I like very much: Glastonaut: One who has attended at least 1 Glastonbury festival.

Perhaps not a Glasto veteran yet, but Glasto '10 will be my 10th festival at the tender age of 18.

Okay, so i'm counting 2 trips to Ben & Jerry's Sundae on the Common as a festival, but technically it is one!

2005 - T in the Park (Balado, Scotland)

2006 - Reading Festival

2007 - Glastonbury

2008 - Glastonbury, Reading Festival, B&JSOTC

2009 - Glastonbury, B&JSOTC

I have done 11 real festivals(no ice cream 'festivals' CiderFiend! )and would say your 'experienced' after 3 but to be a 'veteran' you need to go to at least 1 festival every year for a decade, preferably more. Oh and you have to be older than 30
