See to me that seems like the NME jumping to a major conclusion, based on one ambiguous statement.

The exact quote (for those who can't see the article) is "The Rolling Stones would like to make it clear that there are no plans at the moment for the band to tour in 2010."

There are two key phrases there, 'at the moment', and 'tour'. They could quite easily be coyly hinting that they are in talks. 'At the moment' hints that it could change, and 'tour' could be hinting at a one off appearance. Personally I'm not going to rule them out straight away.

I'm shattered...

but then again, where did they get the quote "we're not playing Glastonbury 2010" which they use in the headline? and where do they "address directly" Glastonbury 2010? so, still some hope it's a bogus story

but if not..."get on it" Michael and Emily for Led Zeppelin on the sunday now.

Everything is speculation until announcements are made from the Rolling Stones machine or Glasto.

The NME are The Daily Star of the music press, they make their money out of making things up from rumour and speculation. No one would bother visiting their site if they didn't constantly pull stunts like this.

Turns out The Mail are at it as well (probably where The NME got this from)

None of it means anything, apart from no tours have been announced yet.

This is a bit like the other week when Emily said they had confirmed the 2nd headliner and NME ran with Glastonbury 2nd Headliner Confirmed! ZOMG!...and then just repeated a tweet was it? from emily saying they have got the 2nd headliner nailed down.

It could be something or it could be nothing as always with NME

it's the normal NME bullshit - it's from an unattributed story in the Daily Mail (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1240597/Rolling-Stones-NOT-tour-year-nice-little-earner-Ronnie-Wood-then.html), which has somehow morphed itself into something entirely different to what that unattributed quotes does actually say.

And then of course there's the fact that it's an unattributed quote .... which means it could simply be made up bollox to fill some empty space or to try and increase sales.

I'd trust it about as much as I trust a tory who says he loves the NHS. :P

and now you've put it on your site.............

the rant above is now funny ha ha ha ha

yep, I was waaaaaay off the mark there - simply because we couldn't tie down where the quote had originated. Sometimes I'm wrong. :P

The quote has been genuinely issued on behalf of the band, and that does make Glasto look very unlikely.

However, I'm still not giving it full credibility, simply because it suggests a tour wasn't planned for this year when I'm 99.99% sure that one was being put together. The only thing which make that quote make sense would be if they've abandoned plans to tour because of Ronnie's drinking.

The quote has been substantiated for eFestivals by the Rolling Stones' people:

Surely the fact that they aren't touring leaves a whacking great Glasto sized hole in their schedule?

    • Well worth watching and the 2 Punisher series can be viewed alone, season 1 being the better one but both pretty good.   Bernthal's Frank Castle first showed up in Daredevil in a couple of episodes before the standalone Netflix Punisher series then popped up again in Daredevil: Born Again before this years One Last Kill and Spider-Man. To be honest all those old Marvel Netflix shows from the Defenders universe are worth a watch. I recently went through them all in order and really enjoyed.

    • Hello eFestivals.   Some of you may remember a vehement poster of these parts who posted by the name of @Mash011 mainly in the 2010s.   Unfortunately he sadly passed away a couple of years back but today would have been his birthday and I think it’s only right that his old friends from the forum pay tribute to him (I’m his brother and I know he didn’t have many friends outside of this place).   Please join me in wishing a happy birthday to deadly departed beloved ex-poster @Mash011.   Happy birthday!
