thanks everyone. i'm part of a posse that always do glastonbury together. its lovely to have an excuse to discuss next years festival this early with a good excuse. .. and we've loved LOADS of your suggestions. some are unexpected but very right. lots are actually on our provisional list already......great minds etc.

please keep the suggestions coming.

we've decided to laminate the "hymn sheets" as they will be indestructible (actually, probably not indestructible, but nearly) and will be weatherproof.

we always have musicians turn up and play.................if any musos out there fancy it , we always keep entertainers well lubricated with the odd beer or three.

we've also been thinking chitty chitty bang bang/ sound of music/ mary poppins type stuff , for people of a certain age

all musos always welcome..... but, it has to be said that we are not the Pyramid Stage. we have usually have a seating area where lovely folk congregate and the entertainment generally comes from the people there. random people turn up and stuff often happens.every thing from random conversations, to poetry to virtuoso musical performances........................but sing a longs are our favourites.

anyway fullfathom, send me a PM a month or two before the festival and i'm sure we can swop some of your tunes for a beer or two. we will have an amp that will be able to take a standard 3.2 mm / 1/8 th inch stereo male jack plug.....same as every set of headphones for ipods ets.

all entertainers welcome.

don't expect huge crowds. its small intimate and hopefully fun.

my feeling is you need songs with really strong choruses, so even if people aren't confident with some fo the verses (or are pretty hammered) they can throw back their heads and bellow away at the chorus. things like

Country Roads - John Denver

Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond

Mrs Robinson - Simon & Garfunkel

Short verses, recognisable choruses and it'll be a massive success I think. Some of the suggestions on this thread are for great great songs, but ones which are pretty difficult to sing for the non professional, or someone who's only vaguely familiar with the artist.
