To be fair, Coldplay were very good on their recent stadium tour. Got a super-cheap eBay ticket a few days before as I was on a training course for work the following couple of days and figured that Jay-Z and White Lies would beat sitting in my hotel room, and Coldplay turned out to put on a great show.

Would def go and see Bowie again cos he is just sooooo damn good but I thought he wasn't doing much at the moment cos he had a health scare???

Rolling Stones - depends who else is on........

Coldplay - like them but not really the sort of band I'd go to see headlining at Glastonbury. Rather go and see them do their own thang (as long as not supported by Girls Aloud  )

To me the three headliners at Glastonbury's 40th should reflect a variety of music

Think their should be an act from the 60s/70's for nostalgia good sing along on the sunday night- Bowie/Rolling Stones/Paul McCartney

Act from the 90s/2000's - Radiohead, Pulp would be good and both bands have played a part in reinvigornating Glasto in the 90s

And a new act from last few years - of the big crowd pullers we'd probably be talking Coldplay (safe bet), Arctic Monkeys (bit more orientated at the youngsters)

Hopefully a similar spread of bands will be headlining the other stages too. I know Chemical Brothers are confirmed but from my point of view Orbital headlining one of the other big stages would be good.

wasn't the bowie rumour officially quashed by someone high up in Bowies people?

i thought they denied he would be playing at the same time they said he would not be appearing as a special guest at Nine Inch Nails final ever performance in LA last month?

http://davidbowie.com/news/index.php?id=20090903

he is the pinnacle of my must see list of artists i want to see and have not seen yet but he is all but retired these days and has been for a some years now ever since his heart attack and his name is always bandied about when the festival rumour mill gets grinding and he just never materialises.

i would absolutely love for him to be one of the headliners but i just cant get my hopes up over these rumours anymore.

Sorry but Radiohead do absolutely nothing for me & I guess as a fan of Radiohead you are going to convince me how good they are, well please don't bother, in the 4 or 5 times I have seen them I would rather watch paint dry!!!!

I swear Coldplay said in 2008 that they weren't going to headline Glasto again, at least for a long time. When Jay Z was announced and people wanted a response Chris Martin said something like "Jay Z is exactly who should be headlining Glasto, and we definitely shouldn't be any more."

They would be a bit of a safe/yawn choice wouldn't they? I like them, but still.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
