The suggestions about REM playing are fairly unrealistic in my opinion. I'd love it but with no album its a tad random.

Looking over all of this, i think Kasabian headlining the festival is fairly unlikely. Yeah, their new album has shot them up and support slots with Oasis, Bruce Springsteen and the arena dates make them look big enough, but i still think its unlikely. Plus, if V snap them up and offer them the headline slot against a potential Reading sub headline slot.. we know where they'll go.

Muse, Green Day, Blink, Iron Maiden, The Libertines all seem to be cropping up. Sub headliners being Franz Ferdinand? and......

I personally can't put my finger on it at all this year. The competition is bigger than ever with Sonisphere lurking around. Muse will be the band everybody wants but they could go to V with Kasabian.

Reading should make sure they get The Cribs on the bill. The new album is really good.. their best work by a mile.

REM have headlined Glasto and T this decade, it wouldn't be that random.

It would be considering their T set was during their tour for 'Accelerate'.

Glasto being the iconic festival it is means that bands do play it even when they aren't touring. More regular than bands play Reading outside of a tour.

Many bands play Reading and Leeds outside touring or when they havenn't an album to produce, especialy when they are working on new material. For previous examples see Radiohead and The Killers. I don't think it will happen but I wouldn't be that surprised if it did.

Don't the killers release an album like every year anyway though so one tour could easily merge into the next.

And Radiohead aren't making any more albums supposedly, because there against the format. There just from now on going to release via the internet songs.

Sonisphere- My Chemical Romance, Iron Maiden

IOW- Faithless, Coldplay, pos Green Day
