I would say slipnot and kasabian are pretty similar in terms of size. I think kasabian have the edge in britian because of the commerical airplay they get but sliplknot are a bigger band internationally. I dont think international sales really matter though as there are very few non british fans at the festival.

In no way is it debatable. Kasabian have had a number one album this year, just been nominated for a mercury music prize, played stadiums earlier in the year, sold out arena tour and 2nd below the Boss at Glastonbury. Correct me if I'm wrong but Slipknot's last two albums haven't even made the top 40?

I don't think they'll return to "metal sunday". Possibly a slightly heavier one, but not to the same extent. I've tried to make it more different as a lot of the predictions are pretty samey.

Not areeing or disagreeing with you as i think its close, but why are slipknot surely buigger than kasabian?

As for offspring v kasabian there is no debate, its not 2008 anymore. Kasbians 3 albums have charted at 1,1 and 4. Offsprings highest charted at 10 and the last just scraped into the top 40.

How is that relevant to who is more likely to headline. I think weezer piss all over the killers but doesnt mean i think weezer would headline over them or that they are a bigger band.

i absolutely love offspring but there is no way on gods earth that they are going to headline.at their peak they only played sub headliner.

also,can i propose a ban on suggesting weezer until a time that they get announced.every year they seem to be rumoured and i get my hopes up(really thought it was going to happen this year) only to find that,yet again,its not going to happen.

As Libertines where offered headline slot last year it seems fairly likely they will be wanted by FR again this year presuming they do reform. So it seems they will headline unless they are offered more money somewhere else.

I don't think they will be reforming any time soon, there hasn't been enough improvement in Pete's addiction.

Slipknot are much bigger worldwide, but in the U.K both bands are around the same in size.

I woudl say kasaabian definitely edge it in the uk. They have had 7 top 20 singles to slipknots 1. It means they have had more mainstrea radio play and are more likely to pull your aveage reading/leeds fan.

I really dont think singles have anywhere near the relevance of album sales and how many tickets they sell at their own gigs. Ive not bought a single for years. When i go into HMV with friends its to look at albums not singles. I find singles are mainly for young people. I bought quite a few aged 10-13. Dont think ive bought one since chocolate salty balls.

If we're basing it on singles, Kasabian are far bigger than Metallica, Greenday, The Strokes etc etc

I agree people are not buying singles at the level they once were. However in terms of radioplay little has channged, the singles that do well in the chart get the most airplay. For this reason someone is more likely to casually come across a kasbian song then they are slipknot which will effect whetehr they see a band in a festival. But i wouldnt buy a ticket to see a band because i know 5 or 6 of the songs. Slipknot have probably more "hardcore" fans, who will buy tickets to see them. Yes, kaisers got a big crowd, but who thought, YESSS!! kaiserchiefs!
