In think theres even less chance that tool would headline than system of a down. I think there would be a massive proportion of festival goers at reading/leeds who couldnt name a song by the band. Although I think they would be a good choice, I dont think its what organisrs are looking for,

I would love rem to headline but sometime gets the impression that the organisers are obsessed with being "cool" and these wouldnt really fit in with that. Also how much of a pull do rem have with the late teens target audience???

It seems to me there is a misunderstanding between the words 'would' 'should' and 'could'. Just because a band could or should headline doesn't mean they would headline - if that makes sense. Yes SOAD and TOOL could (and may well should) headline but they almost certainly won't.

The irony is that Girls Aloud are probably more respected as a musical act than many headliners are. Their greatest hits got an 8.5 on pitchfork media and their recent album got 8 in nme (higher than recent scores for Arctic Monkeys and KOL). I doubt many people would agree with these reviews but its worth pointing out.
