right o - here goes mine

p/s - o/s

Led Zeppelin - Elbow

U2 - Hawkwind or Motorhead

Dave Gilmour/Floyd/some kind of thing - Fat boy Slim

others

kylie - Snow patrol

Rolling stones - Doves

Paul McCartney - Iron Maiden

Fleetwood Mac - The Last Shadow puppets

Bowie - Green Day

Metallica - Kanye

U2 i would love, but would mainly love it for the months of arguing and name calling that would ensue on this board if it happened - would make the Springsteen saga look like a minor disagreement

Sort of with you on this. "Vanilla/Beige" bands headlining on the Pyramid do make it easier to get around the place and see crazy weird stuff at just the right time of the night.

I saw Regina Spector, Specials, Amadou et Mariam, Madness and Blur this year on the Pyramid. None followed the others, which meant I could get nowhere near. I much prefer to watch acts with smaller crowds. Putting a band I want to see on the Pyramid presesnts me with a dilema.

As far as I am concerned, ideally no headliner should be someone who has not played Glastonbury in the last 2 years and has not headlined Glastonbury in the last 10 years.

So that rules out Muse, Coldplay, Radiohead, Oasis, Bowie, McCartney etc etc etc

I think you've commited a bit of a double negative crime here. It would be a little boring if the headliners had all played the festival in either 2008 or 2009...

ME is going to try and get The Smiths and Led Zep to reunite. Assuming he doesn't manage I'm guessing Radiohead, U2 and something a little random. There's always something a little random.

The other thing is that it's nearly always impossible to guess this far out.

Id love to see somthing really special for the 40th anniversary

Friday

Muse

The Libertines

Other stage

Pixies

My Bloody Valentine

Saturday

Radiohead

Coldplay

Other Stage

Sonic Youth

Manic Street Preachers

Then....

How about Sunday night they have "The Pyramid All Star Band" made up from artisits who love the festival and guest vocalists, sort of a concert for bangledesh type vibe, a 3 hour jam session

You could have people live thom yorke, jack white, jarvis cocker, billy bragg, chris martin, noel gallagher, jay z, bowie, rolf, mick jones, dave grohl, ray davis, memebers of the killers, franz ferdinand, klaxons, the levellers... the list goes on. Playing songs from the last 40 years.

it'd be amazing not knowing who was going to come on next or what song they were gunna do.

Imagine a live 8 style hey jude encore with macca on bass, jack white on guitar, thom york on piano dave grohl on drums.

who wouldnt love a set that included some of the biggest pryamid moments of the last 40 years recreated?

and you could stick beyonce on the other stage at the same time

Oh well i can dream.... :)

That Pyramid Stage All Star Band would possibly be the best thing ever.

Would never happen though. Took guts to have Jay-Z headlining, would take epic guts to book a 'non-name'.

But if Glastonbury really wanted to show off how ahead they were of the competition then I can't think of a better way.

Friday: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band

Saturday: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band

Sunday: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band

Clearly able to deliver three different sets.

However if Mr Eavis is pedantic and no-one can headline/play consecutive festivls then its got to be:-

Friday: Procol Harum

Saturday: Led Zeppelin (if Percy still doesn't want to play, then substitute with the Rolling Stones)

Sunday: David Bowie

I saw U2 at Cardiff Arms Park on the Joshua Tree Tour - they headlined and played 63 minutes including the encore. The support bands The Pretenders and The Alarm both played longer sets. Yes, I know they play longer sets now & I do have all of their albums but I won't pay to see them again out of principle.

Perhaps Gary Brooker from Procol harum & Rolf Harris could tempt Kate Bush to put in an appearance somewhere - now that would be something!

Some bands who haven't played for a while who should, and could headline:

Radiohead

Morrissey

Rolling Stones

Weller

Pixies

David Bowie

Libertines

Roger Waters

Paul McCartney

James

REM

And maybe some blues on the JazzWorld, like BB King. Buddy Guy was ace last year.

i detest the Eagles with every fibre of my being, talentless parasitic c**ts. Plastic cowboys who took a vibrant, beautuful creative music scene, appropriated it, watered it down and f**ked everyone else over in the process. Scum.

sorry, and that, you know, but had to say it. :(

my shouts for headliners?

prince

rolling stones/faces double bill

dunno who else, don't rightly care, probably somebody massive that I don't like so I can get up to Shangri La before the crowds

    • One problem could be that many of the hospitality packages are already sold out. Unless you’ve a media contact, media organisations normally get a hospitality allocation.
    • I agree on WA taking a year off in 2027. But if they got the call from R&L could see them having a similar August to what Fontaines are doing now. A few random shows + 2/3 other festivals. The festival/LN does seem to love them as well so there is a chance they take a punt.   I did see about Rodrigo potentially doing a stadium in Poland but no clue if that would be 2027 or 2028, I just can't see her at the Fest at all, seems too big in current climate.   If I were to guess the headliners next year I'd go with Fred Again/Foos/Capaldi/Olivia Dean/Biffy or Wolf Alice/Some Rapper, Tems?
    • Ulitimately the “Top 6” or top 2 on a day by day basis work as a collective   You could easily have Foo Fighters and someone else much weaker on a single day   As long as they add up to 3, whether they’re a 2 and 1 or both 1.5s it doesn’t really matter   The Florence- Chase and status day is basically a 1.5 and 1, hence it selling the weakest
