Who would your Ideal Headliners for the pyramid stage be next year?

I've got a feeling it might be the Rolling Stones, whilst Keith is still able to stand up.

As far as I am concerned, ideally no headliner should be someone who has played Glastonbury in the last 2 years and has headlined Glastonbury in the last 10 years.

So that rules out Muse, Coldplay, Radiohead, Oasis, Bowie, McCartney, Kasabian, Elbow etc etc etc

Its always way more interesting and exciting when its somebody completely new, and bands always put tons more effort into their first headline slot at Glastonbury. Plus, it eradicates any "they were better the last time" comments.

Elbow aren't planning to release more material between now and then (correct me if i'm wrong), so i can't see them growing sufficiently between now and next year.

Coldplay - i really hope not!

Beyonce - a definite possibility. She's a big star with crossover appeal and would probably bring an entourage of guests.

Nah I really don't reckon Elbow will headline. Yes, they are growing in popularity but a jump from 3rd on other stage to 1st on pyramid is pretty big. If they play next year I fully expect them to either second headline the pyramid or headline the other stage.

I just remember michael eavis (or was it emily?) being very excited about their performance last year. I could see them doing it. They have 4 albums now so have the material. If kings of leon could do it, so could elbow I reckon.

How about Sunday night they have "The Pyramid All Star Band" made up from artisits who love the festival and guest vocalists, sort of a concert for bangledesh type vibe, a 3 hour jam session

You could have people live thom yorke, jack white, jarvis cocker, billy bragg, chris martin, noel gallagher, jay z, bowie, rolf, mick jones, dave grohl, ray davis, memebers of the killers, franz ferdinand, klaxons, the levellers... the list goes on. Playing songs from the last 40 years.

it'd be amazing not knowing who was going to come on next or what song they were gunna do.

Imagine a live 8 style hey jude encore with macca on bass, jack white on guitar, thom york on piano dave grohl on drums.

who wouldnt love a set that included some of the biggest pryamid moments of the last 40 years recreated?

and you could stick beyonce on the other stage at the same time

I was thinking about this today, and came up with the following conclusion,

Radiohead (If there is a big focus on the whole 40th year thing because of 'that' performance in 97)

The Police (if they are still touring?) or Oasis (I do not like them but it seems sadly logical)
