  1. I manage GIS in local government. I do flood maps but nothing coastal. I found the detailed glasto site maps they’d printed and put up in the green fields last year and had a proper map geek out with another guy who was passing and also worked in GIS.. they were beautiful maps.
  2. Missed this one first time round.. I work with maps and spatial data for my day job so would happily take on the Glastonbury map updates. I also do mapping for emergency planning so could work on the major incident plans too.

Hang in there, I missed a few oxfam places by seconds until I managed to grab one a few days before the 2019 festival..
  4. I’m looking forward to wandering round the site with my brother and the rest of my old glasto crew who haven’t been for 10 years, can’t wait to show them all the new stuff. Also looking forward to NYC Downlow as I didn’t make it in there last year because of the queues and I’m determined this time! (Also don’t have a 6am wake up to go on shift because I’m not working it this year, I can stay out!)
  5. Love this thread! I’d like to thank the girl that saw me wandering around the green fields rather spangled in the early hours at the 1999 festival and decided I needed a free hug 🤗
  6. I’ve perfected packing light over the years, I hate lugging heavy bags across site. I’ve got a 22litre lightweight trail pack and a decathlon 2XL pop up tent which I stuff various lighter things into (down jacket, mini blanket etc) and attach my sleeping bag with a bungee. Invested in a really nice thermarest which packs down tiny. I just take the walking boots I’m wearing, squishable pillow, mainly shorts to wear, travel towel, lots of small or flattenable things. I don’t take alcohol though, happy to just get that on-site.

Extra places for Oxfam going live Tuesday 2nd May.. wonder if GFL have requested more stewards..
  8. I missed 4 years when my kids were tiny, I thought it would be awful not being there after going every year for ages but to be honest I really enjoyed the footage and watched as much as I could over the weekend. I guess I'm more evenly split between seeing bands and the dance / SE corner stuff so maybe it wouldn't appeal as much for you but the TV coverage was enough for me to feel part of it.. it was amazing going back after the 4 festival break though!
  9. There were some limited charging points by the farm last year.. but could definitely be an issue when more people get electric cars.. I wonder what the proportion of Glastonbury goers with electric cars is already..
  10. Amazing effort! I’m working on coming back from 5 weeks off any exercise feb/March when I had a cold virus thing. Back at the 5km runs and cycling to work.. need to step it up a bit if I want to cope with glasto distances.
  11. Saw Gaz Coombes Wednesday at the Leadmill.. not listened to a lot of his stuff but liked a couple of his semi recent singles. Didn’t know anything he played in the end but really enjoyed all of it.. he’s got a great voice and an extensive band, sounded great 👍 would defo see him again.

    Resale Club 2023

Trying for group 5... no sign of a booking page yet..
  13. I wish I’d gone earlier in my life.. it’s always seemed like a massive undertaking though.. I joined the UK Burners Facebook group to try and get my head around the camps and how best to get there as an international traveller.. it just seemed epic. I hope it’s still going in 10-15 years time when I might actually have a chance to make it.
  14. I’d love to go, can’t see me making it there for some years yet due to having two young kids, it would be too expensive / organisational nightmare. It looks amazing though and I love seeing the photos and footage every year.
  15. Get tent set up, head off to the brothers bar for a nice cold cider (traditional first drink) then do a massive lap of the site to see what’s new / changed and get giddy with excitement about being back on the farm.
  16. Glasto Saturday for Christine and The Queens..
  17. The Monday line up looks amazing. I’ve never been to Printworks, only just discovered it existed recently and now I’m desperate to go before it closes. Those who’ve been, what’s the crowd like? Just wondering if I’ll feel out of place or not given that I’m in my 3rd decade of partying 😜

I got my oxfam place a few days before the 2019 festival and I’m pretty sure you’re right, had to be there by early evening Tuesday for the briefing.
  19. Paid! Now I’m even more excited 🙂
  20. Previously used to head for a juice bar for a really refreshing zingy juice vitamin hit … sometimes an egg sarnie from somewhere up the green fields direction.. more recently I’ve discovered a stall that does waffles with cream and strawberries and that’s been my breakfast of choice the last two years.
  21. My first festival 97 (mudfest) we got the train, it was pretty amusing getting on the train home to Sheffield at Bristol caked in mud with all the commuters glaring at us 😂 Most of the festivals between then and 2019 we went by car, usually leaving early morning (5am ish) and often avoiding any massive queues. One year we left after the headliners but that felt weird. 2019 got the train.. managed to get travel sick en route because I was facing backwards (and cumulative effects of the weekend no doubt also contributed) and vomited in my hat just as the train arrived into Sheffield, classy 😆 2022 drove, leaving after morning litter picking shift. This year getting the bus for the first time.. so we’ll see what that’s like! Planning to half pack, stay out late on Sunday, get a cursory amount of sleep, then get the bus and sleep some more.
  22. Saw Self Esteem last night at O2 Academy Sheffield. Much bigger show now with costume changes and more choreo.. loved the new song Mother, I think the other new one will grow on me.. her old music teacher was next to me on the barrier and RLT said “I can’t believe you’re here!”.. the crowd sang happy birthday to her Dad too who was at the side of the stage.. all in all a brilliant home gig. Lovely crowd too..
  23. Good on the cure for leading the way, hopefully other artists will follow, now it’s clear it is an artist choice it’s going to look bad for anyone who goes with it surely.
  24. 1997 was my first Glastonbury.. epic mud, tent leaked, pretty sure I had plastic bags inside my DMs to keep my feet dry, nearly went home but some friends jumped the fence on Saturday to join us and together we had a brilliant time. I remember watching Smashing Pumpkins completely trashed, thinking I was in a field of corn wearing moon boots which glued me to the ground 😂 (that’ll be the mud then).
  25. Suede at Sheffield O2 Academy last night, Brett was on fine form and absolutely throwing himself into it. Loved hearing the new stuff live and some classics. Gig slightly marred by a rather arsey crowd..
