  1. I’ve been lucky enough to get a ticket every year I’ve wanted to go since 97. Mainly down to friends luck getting a booking page, though I got through straight away this year too after not seeing a booking page for years. The years I wasn’t successful at getting tickets I’ve worked for oxfam and recycle crew. Would definitely recommend the volunteering route, it’s a lot of fun.
  2. It’s still my favourite place to camp, the location, the relative quiet, showers and I just really like tipis… I think we’d be trying for them next year but we’re likely going to be a group of 7 (if we all get tickets)… don’t think there’s a way to make that work.
  3. We got standing for the Friday Sheffield date yesterday on ticketmaster.. was holding out to see if they played the farm, super excited to see them at their home gig though 🙂
  4. Top 3 - 1. Phoenix - first time I’d seen them and they were bloody amazing, they had a small crowd of totally adoring fans and absolutely went for it. 2. Warpaint - Also the first time I’d seen them, so great to hear some of my favourite songs played live. 3. Close call between Rick Astley / Alison Goldfrapp / Foo Fighters who were all excellent

Forgot I saw Michael Eavis at Woodsies for the woods opening ceremony on Wednesday afternoon..
  6. Also really loved the halloumi souvlaki wrap thing from a stall with a chalk board drawing of Lionel Richie outside as you come into the other stage field. It had so many amazing flavours.
  7. Best - Bayou BBQ Surf and Turf in west holts. So good I had it twice. Worst - Chunky chips and cheese from somewhere on the strip of vendors between pyramid and San Remo. Dry cheese which didn’t melt.. bland chips.
  8. I was torn between Phoenix and Elton.. ended up leaving Caroline Polachek early to get a spot at Elton.. managed to get a decent view, but three songs in I changed my mind and decided to leg it to Phoenix - which turned out to be the best decision as Phoenix were absolutely phenomenal.. hadn’t seen them before but it turned out they are amazing live, great light show, great tunes and an enigmatic front man who was so appreciative of the small but super enthusiastic crowd. Everyone was 100% going for it and it felt like a proper Glastonbury moment.

    Delights from 2023

The Cajun BBQ place in west holts is Bayou BBQ .. I had their surf and turf twice it was so good!
  10. Loved the weather this year, walking around in a T shirt at 1am is my ideal. Managed to cool off in the peace garden and various tents / bits of shade when needed and my 8hr factor 50 suncream and hat did the job, no sunburn. Only had a couple of pints of cider a day and drank coke the rest of the time which kept me hydrated. My only complaint is the ice cream vans were almost always out of slushies..

    Delights from 2023

Great thread 🙂 Delights for me - having my old Glastonbury crew back together after 10 years. Loved the Levels, really impressive new dance space. Loved the lighting and sound installations in the woods. First year camping near Woodsies for me so San Remo became our last stop of the night and I was surprised how consistently good the music was in there. In fact this year I found more good house music to dance to than any other year I can think of. The walkabouts in T&C fields were brilliant, especially the guy dressed as a black blob (?) who kept accosting random festival goers in various ways and had me literally crying with laughter. The light up hula hooping was great! Missed that last year but managed to happen across it this year. Loved the interactive rooms in Shangri la - especially “we tried to deliver”. Loved the weather - so nice to be walking around in a t shirt at 1am on dry ground! Made getting from A to B quickly so doable. Also the peace garden was a beautiful place to lie in the shade for a rest. Generally the crowd was friendly and lovely, more diverse and mostly people seemed to be getting on. Loved seeing more drag queens / queer culture represented on stage and in the crowd. Really enjoyed some of the talks in Green futures. A final big shout out to Phoenix who pulled off an amazing closing set with a small but super enthusiastic crowd at Woodsies, absolutely joyous end to the festival for me.

Saw Steve Lamaq in Woodsies (Saturday I think), forget which band he was seeing.

Wednesday - 25,508 Thursday - 52,776 Friday - 38,457 Saturday - 42,200 Sunday - 49,160 Total - 208,101 My feet are ruined - previously comfortable walking boots decided to give me blisters this year. By 1am the last two nights I just couldn’t walk anymore and had to go to bed.
  14. I left Elton after 3 songs and went to Phoenix, best decision of the weekend as they were amazing. Never seen them before but loved it. They didn’t get phased by the smaller crowd and played their hearts out… and the crowd were so loud and absolutely loving it. He came into the crowd at the end to individually thank us all and crowd surfed back!
  15. Weirdly all venues still seemed rammed. I couldn’t figure out all weekend how they could be so many amazing, big capacity venues now - all really busy - and yet the SE corner is still overwhelmed. It makes no sense. Arcadia was maybe the only place I visited that seemed less busy than normal.

    The Levels

Absolutely love the Levels.. brilliant new venue, the lighting and size of it is so impressive. Hats off to whoever created it.. SH has really grown into something quite special.
  17. There seemed to be more flags than usual way back this year.. it’s annoying not being able to see the screens when you’re near the back because of the flags.. I’m up for a ban.
  18. Has anyone seen the arancini stall? It’s not where it was last year..
  19. All 6 of us got searched fairly thoroughly at gate A on first entry yesterday, the first time I’ve ever been searched and they were searching everyone to some extent when we came in.. all bags unzipped, felt around and things like toiletry bags fully opened and looked into. Really quite surprised! It’s quite a change to previous years where just odd people were pulled aside to be searched.
  20. Take ID and he should be fine.

    Disaster

Oh no! That’s so rubbish, you must be gutted 😞 On the plus side you’re in hospital and being treated.. get well soon!
  22. Packed, been to my allotment to sort that for the week, ordered a taxi for 6am to take me to the coach station.
  23. I’m not a huge Elton fan and could easily go see something else, but the talk of potential guests and the FOMO of some proper Glastonbury moments is swaying me into seeing him. But if it’s not grabbing me after a few songs I will decamp elsewhere.
  24. Thank you! Love this thread so much. Have an amazing festival ❤️
