The net weather forum model discussion seems to be heading more towards a hot forecast.. it’s still too early but it’s at least looking promising, a re run of 2019 would be sweet.

Started gathering stuff into a pile.. currently just an impractical but dazzlingly shiny green/blue jacket and an amazing sequin t shirt I got for a fiver on Vinted 👍 Trying to decide: 1. Wellies or walking boots + gaiters 2. Sleeping bag or duvet

It seems a bit weird when her talking was so quiet compared to the singing.. I might stick with my original plan and go see Clairo / Caroline Polachek I think..

I’m not there til Tuesday lunchtime too.. hopefully catch up with some efests crew at some point though 🙂

After not missing a festival since 1997 I missed 4 festivals from 2014 to 2017 when our children were tiny. I really thought it would be unbearable not being there, I didn’t spend much time in the forum over those years, other than to read the post festival discussions but I did watch all the live coverage and I was surprised how OK I was with that. I just knew there was no chance I was going to go and I kind of made my peace with it. In a way it was good I had an enforced break, I really appreciated it when I came back in 2019, it was so exciting to see the changes that had happened over the 4 years I missed and I had the best festival of the 15 I’d been to. Hope you don’t find it too hard missing this year and you enjoy watching the coverage on TV. Hopefully you can get back next year.

Alcatraz is a permanent building which has showers, toilets, washing machines etc next to the big red barn, we used it when we worked for water aid on worthy pastures last year.. thinking about it I think it had 2019 carved in a stone on the front.. so maybe it was only built post festival last time?

People who’ve camped in Toms field before.. do we use the showers and toilets in Alcatraz? Or are there other showers?

If I’m coming by train and need to pack light I bring my 3/4 length thermarest and down sleeping bag and usually sleep really well. Coming by car this year so debating a bigger thermarest, a blanket underneath and maybe a duvet to see how much nicer that is. Had a night on an air bed this week when we had people staying over and I ended up sleeping on the floor, I just don’t get on with airbeds.

We’re on recycle crew so arriving Tuesday, by this time Wednesday I’ll be drinking cider, exploring the site and meeting up with our non crew friends.

All my biggest clashes safe thanks to Wolf Alice, Phoebe Bridgers and Self Esteem being further down the bill than I expected. Win!

On first glance it looks like all my biggest potential clashes have been averted ..

Had a mini blip with a bad cold bug the last few days, hoping to be well enough to get back to the running tomorrow..

And me, spent many years going to free parties, loved DIY… Smokescreen are playing somewhere too (Shangri La I think?)

This is my worst nightmare. Though I have seen Wolf Alice recently so PFB probably wins.. but I really want to see WA again! Feck.

Managing longer runs now and enjoying swimming and cycling.. did a more hardcore HIIT class this week and it’s working, lost 2kg and feeling fitter.. will try not to do anything too crazy like attempt a super long run.. just going to maintain where I am now and hopefully I’ll be fit for Glastonbury.

Wasn’t the EPO thing just a trial in 2019, maybe it was either go full on and adopt EPO for everyone or ditch it?

Thanks for the maps! I love pouring over the detail. Even when you think you’re really familiar with the site there’s always new things you notice. I do GIS / mapping for a living, I would LOVE to be the mapping officer for GFL 😀

I follow him on twitter, he’s great.. I’ll have to make it to his exhibition. I don’t own any of his art but I love the big pieces he’s done around the city. We have some amazing artists in Sheffield, Phlegm, Craww (his early stuff) and Mila K are more up my street but I love some of the music related McKee art.

I’ve been semi consistent with my plan to swim once, bike commute to work one day, one hiit class and do at least one run a week.. I did a 5k run on Saturday and for the first time in months it felt ok. Just need to stick to the plan and hopefully I’ll be back to a reasonable level of fitness for Glastonbury.

I got myself a decathlon fresh and black for this reason! In 2019 working for oxfam I struggled to sleep for long after my night shift due to the heat. I’m on early mornings with the recycle crew so shouldn’t be an issue but I can definitely see the value in fresh and black tents.
