  1. I saw it in Sheffield, absolutely loved it. It’s really clever how the various stories are threaded together and the music and cast are excellent. Possibly a bit biased as I lived in the newly gentrified Park Hill flats which it’s based around for a year and there were a lot of amusing Sheffield references.. but I think it still translates well to a non Yorkshire audience. Would definitely recommend catching it if you can.

I used distill too, had it running on my laptop all day and set up an alert to my email account so I didn’t need to be sat at my laptop watching it, I got close a couple of times as places came up then was quick enough one day and got a place (about 4 days before the festival in 2019). There are times when it’s more likely, around the last cancellation date etc.. but they do randomly pop up every now and then. Good luck!
  3. Ouch.. do people really pay those prices?
  4. I looked at the extra Madonna date that went on sale today, got in the queue early but everything was over £250.. I can’t even remember what the base price was for a lot of the seats.. there may as well not be a base price because it’s all surge priced now.

Congratulations to everyone that got places, loved working for Oxfam and hope to do it again soon. Working ped gate A for gates open on Wednesday in 2019 was brilliant fun.. Nightshift on worthy view gate had the best view of the site through sunset and sunrise. You see another side to the festival (and the crew bars are great 😊).

Good luck everyone! And if you don’t get lucky today still don’t give up hope, I picked up an Oxfam place just a few days before the festival in 2019.. there’s always a way!
  7. Definitely, was really hoping they’d be there and pixies and Franz would’ve been good. Given last years line up was packed with all my favourite bands I knew this year was going to be a quieter one, but it’s sad to see so many excellent acts ruled out.
  8. I’m back on it after a lazy Christmas holiday where my running fitness evaporated and I gained some weight again. I’ve found motivation via the Vitality life insurance thing where you have to get 40 points a week for various money off rewards. I’m doing 2 runs, 1 cycle to and from work and some 12,500 steps days each week to reach the points goal. Hopefully I’ll be fit again for Glastonbury.
  9. Interesting… it’s all a bit of a gamble really, could go either way. I think I’m going to see what seats (if any) I can get tomorrow for the new date if there’s nothing great available I’ll take my chances picking up a last minute ticket from somewhere for face value.
  10. So my previous tactic of waiting til just before the gig to pick up a last minute seat right by the stage probably wouldn’t work now, closer to the gig the dynamic pricing is going to just make it ridiculously expensive. You’d have to rely on something good coming up on twickets. Madonna has announced a 5th date at the O2 so I might see what I can get when that goes on sale.
  11. Can someone explain the ticketmaster platinum ticket thing for me.. will all remaining Madonna tickets stay at the massively inflated platinum prices now? When do they start / end dynamic pricing?
  12. I hadn’t thought of Blondie.. definitely legends, loads of great hits, but I agree they’re weirdly underwhelming live - I got tickets to see them in a small club in New York about 10 years ago and it was really nothing special.. can’t quite put my finger on why, maybe I had unrealistic expectations. They might be great on the pyramid.
  13. It does seem odd Erasure haven’t played, they have a huge back catalogue of hits, they’ve always been excellent fun live and they’re still putting out new music.. some of the new tunes are really good. A greatest hits set would go down a storm surely.

    2024 Headliners

I love Madonna, seen her live on Confessions and Sticky and Sweet tours which were great, but the thought of her playing Glastonbury kind of terrifies me, her recent live performances (that I’ve seen) have been pretty ropey.. we’ll have to see how the Celebration tour starts in Canada.
  15. I used to love the dragon field, that was our home for years before it became crew camping..
  16. Is that £800 ticket surge pricing or the standard price for that block? 😳
  17. It’s a totally different thing, requiring a specially built venue for all the lighting effects etc. I’d love to see some classic tours reimagined with the technology though.
  18. Most I’ve paid was £174 for a really good seat at Madonna’s Confessions tour, got on the front of the catwalk and she came right up to me and held the mic out for me to sing with her! Definitely one of her best tours and an amazing view. I’m not sure I’ll ever get that close to her again, probably not going to pay £400+ to get a similarly good seat.
  19. I’d definitely go again. The staging / lighting is unreal.. I want all gigs to have wraparound lighting and mirrored things dropping down from the roof.. immersive gigs ftw!
  20. I think we’re going for the top of Wicket this year. I’ve been in crew camping the last two festivals, but the rest of my friends have been in wicket and it looks good to me.. before that we were all in park home / dairy.. which wasn’t my favourite. I kind of like the idea of hawkwell for the amazing views.. but yeah it’s kind of mountain goat territory 😂
  21. Seen AM many times, mainly around the first two albums. Not a massive fan of their last two albums but I enjoyed their set at RL last year so I’m up for giving them a go this year. Never seen GnR or Elton, not massively bothered by either of them but everyone’s hype has convinced me Elton is going to be epic so I’ll probably be there.
  22. I think it’s now or never for Madonna.. she’s definitely struggling more with the level of choreography she normally would do on tour so I can’t see her doing big production type shows much longer… and she’s about to announce a greatest hits tour this year. If she’s asking for 7 figure fees I can’t see it happening ….unless she sees the PR value in playing Glastonbury and scales back her expectations.
  23. I had a great year, loved my first time working for the recycle crew, the line up was pretty much perfect with all my current favourite bands playing and over 40 acts I really wanted to see. Enjoyed hanging out in the crew bars for the first time despite also being crew in 2019. I missed the night time wanderings quite a bit (had to be up early for shifts) and probably didn’t see so much non music stuff which I normally love. So despite loving the epic line up I think I could do with a quieter year on the music side next year so I can mooch around seeing more randomness. On reflection I think I probably spent too much of it on my own dashing to see various bands which none of my gang wanted to see.. it’s nice to share the experience with your friends, I did get chatting to lots of lovely people in the crowd but I’m looking forward to seeing more things with my friends next year.
  24. Went to Abba Voyage last night, very impressive. Really stunning lighting / staging - what looks like a fairly standard stage to begin with turns into a really amazing immersive experience with really impressive effects using lights, lasers and mirrors. The avatars look so real, they only lose you slightly when they’re shown extra large and you can see that slight computer game unrealness close up.. but overall it’s pretty easy to buy into the idea that you’re watching a live gig. Would love to see other classic gigs done this way or just the lighting designs and staging done for other live artists as it was breathtaking. I guess the purpose built venue was a big part of that though so maybe not so doable.
