From the St Etienne presale email, which seems to rule out EOTR

"A few of you have pointed out that there isn’t a Midlands date here and we want to apologise for that.
We looked at several venues in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Leicester and Nottingham but were either knocked back or couldn’t find suitable dates. It’s a real shame as we’ve always enjoyed concerts in those cities. For now the shows here are all we’ll be playing. Perhaps a stand alone show or festival in the Midlands may be possible at some point.

Yeah, they are out unless someone they booked drops out and they need a replacement.

Not necessarily. Think that is just about there being no shows i the midlands.

I spoke to them at one of the album launch shows and they stated they were doing festivals but wouldn't be drawn on which.

Wednesday, Melody's Echo Chamber and Interpol (and Unknown Mortal Orchestra but presumably it's too early for them to return) have been announced for Meo Kalorama in LIsbon the previous weekend.

Interpol extremely unlikely i reckon. Wednesday and Melody entirely possible

Would Violent Femmes not be a contender?

Gordon Gano did play solo years ago but I think they're touring a 45th anniversary show and Simon's pretty much said in the recent past he doesn't want to put on acts who are hawking nothing other than a back catalogue.

He'd still be mental to say no if they were available. Shouldn't be so arsey really. Odd exception is fine.

    • I mean she's never going to admit it, but of course she would do a deal...same as Labour would with lib-dems/greens if meant getting into government.
    • They probably do make more from the festival. But take a look at an aerial photo from any year - there's always a few fields that would be viable for festival related use yet are left empty. I guess they just don't want to deal with the associated hassle.
