Counting down the days, what are your daily plans? 

 

I will be there for day 1 and 2, the first time after 2023. 

Have to say I'm quite unhappy with the running order, a lot of clashes with staff i would like to see. 

 

Day1: Probably won't be early enough for Bad Nerves, so I will start a day with Wolf Alice and might go to Zara Larsson, but would have to skip Lambrini Girls and Avrelize for that. I don't know yet, hard one to choose. 

But in that case i might skip Sombr for heavy riffs with Kim Dracula and later Underworld for desert.

Day2: Will try to catch Giant Rooks followed by Biffy Clyro. With change of their spot, theys clash with Natasha Bedingfield and Health. Another pain in the ass moment for me. Will choose Twenty One Pilots over Chet Faker and will check out Ashnikko and Tomora and maybe even Argy for the end.

But yeah, ain't brilliant. On the bright side: I don't have to budget energy so much because after day 3 is over I can basically lay back and chill most of the time

Managed to go crazy again, will prolly skip some, but that’s my current plan. Maybe gives some of you some ideas. 
will try to catch luminarium, traveling funfair and all the rest as well in between.

They built a watering system and have been watering the island for the past few weeks to reduce dust, but given the current drought, there will still be dust.

They will cover twice as much ground around the main stage with those plastic panels as they did before.

They couldn't book Gogol Bordello because the singer was afraid the government would allow Russian security services to capture him if he entered the country.

They didn't have much room to be selective about artists. They booked whoever they could get.

This year's Sziget will be only about 50% of his original vision. He wanted a dedicated rock stage.

They are preparing for a loss of 1.5 billion HUF this year.

For some reason, student tickets are not selling in the numbers they had expected.

He said that when he talks about the lineup being less important, he doesn't mean Sziget should have a weaker lineup than Primavera. Rather, it should have a similarly strong lineup combined with much more non-musical programming, so people from abroad come here to see the same artists but have a completely different overall experience.

He didn't miss Sziget and originally wanted to spend no more than two days a week dealing with it, but now he's working on it full-time and has handed over control of the rest of his businesses.

The Bródy Day was his idea because Sziget has always been late when it comes to this kind of concert. They would only organize farewell performances or tribute shows after an artist had passed away. Since Bródy is one of the country's greatest singer-songwriters, they wanted to honor him while he is still alive. (He didn't say it exactly like that, but the man is 80 and has just stopped playing large concerts.)

He never understood why anyone would focus exclusively on one generation, especially Gen Z, who have less disposable income, drink less, and are, in his words, "afraid of partying." He explained that in the past, people loved festivals because of the nonstop partying, whereas many younger people today find that experience overwhelming or exhausting. That's one of the reasons why Sziget will introduce more chill zones and sensory-friendly spaces.

They also want to attract older generations, who are generally more willing and able to spend money. The Sziget Icons days are aimed at this audience, and in the future they hope to create a more balanced lineup that appeals to people over 35 as well.

Do we think there is realistic chance Sziget could get cancelled? I'm reading about Hungarian energy crysis and many measures and prohibitions due to this.

My fellow Hungarians always find a reason why Sziget should be cancelled every single years Now it’s at least a bit valid but I would say it’s highly unlikely.

they are shutting down the nuclear power plant until Friday ; sziget starts 3 days later

plus, they said they will have to import energy. 

 

So I see no point in cancelling an event that will make them lose money

This. I always read in awe the hatred toward the festival and Gerendai. 

I see no chance of it being cancelled, except if something worse happens, like the whole electric grid collapses or something. But that’s not really a case. Worst case scenario is that the whole thing will be ran by diesel generators for the sake of the environment.

Chill.

There is no chance Sziget will be cancelled by the government.
Even the prime minister held a press conference today, where he confirmed this.
 

Magyar said they do not want to shut down the country or prevent events from taking place. He gave the example that vetoing an event would be like completely cutting off a large consumer’s electricity supply for the organizers. However, just as they have not taken such a measure against large consumers, they have not taken steps to cancel events either. (Magyar did not name a specific event, but he was presumably referring specifically to the Sziget Festival.)

At the same time, Péter Magyar stressed that if disruptions occur in the system or the heatwave persists, it could become necessary to postpone or reschedule events (example: some Hungarian football games will probably be held in daylight, moved to a few hours earlier, to save energy), although he believes there is currently little chance of that happening. This is particularly true for events that rely entirely, or largely, on their own energy sources.
