Sziget 2027 wishmachine is already here!

You may suggest up to 10 artists and then you are able to pick up to 10 artists from a list provided by them. This is their list of acts:

I was filling out a wish list for Oya 2027, which also had a provided list, and it shared a lot of names. So I guess quite a lot of those are touring next August, as Oya and Sziget are at the same time.

Lucky we weren't asked to submit 15 names I wanted from that list, because I would've really struggled.

Managed to pick 10, but only just.

-1 bit of a let down.

I get where you are coming from, but if they had announced someone big a lot of you would have been rightfully mad for having to rebook flights and hotels.

Anyone else feel like it's all gone a bit flat? I know that tends to happen every year around this time, but with less than three months to go it would be nice to hear something to get excited about....

I don't really know what you are expecting, though.

We got the whole lineup released in a weirdly good fashion, and it's definetely too early for timetable.

Do we have the whole musical line-up? Thought we still had some more to go on the smaller stages? Would also be good to know who's headlining Magic Mirror (unless I've missed that announcement?) and some of the things they are bringing to make it feel more like the Sziget of old.

Or details of who will be playing in Revolut when Skrillex is on main stage 😉

EDIT: Sziget line-up page on the website has a heading of: Sziget Lineup Acts so far - more artists, more moments, more surprises ahead.

I wouldn't read too much into that, Sziget is pretty bad at marketing.

Line up is complete for the 99%. They are probably about to add the DropY.ard names for the 14/08, but they will probably sneak that without announcing. Also, they need to distribute names between The Buzz and the DropYard.

Once they've done it, last thing missing is the timetables, and everything in between will be just people cancelling and getting replaced.

I have to agree we are at 99%..

In an article @CCester published,  smaller names had been published already, i guess they will make seperate stage annoucements.

Dropyard:

Miss Kannina ,LIBRA, Chadia, Wild Wild Women, Alizade, Detto, ROSE MAY ,Curtisy YT ,DJ SHOCCA Deki Alem, Yssi SB ZEP, Illbucks, Lil Frakk, bongor, 6363, Killakikitt, NKS, Mikee Mykanic, gyuris, Lil 404, Lekvárherceg, Cibi, Szunyog Tess, Gently da Spittah', Budapest Open Mic showcase.

The buzz:

Zawose Queens, Calle Mambo, Melina, Altin Gün ,Avralize , HEALTH , LEAP , John Coffey , Annisokay, TEEN MORTGAGE .,Perturbator, ,Ikkimel , Sylvie Kreusch, MISSIO, Soft Loft , Max Baby , Dressed Like Boys , Evening Elephants , Night Tapes, Idiotape , Yarima, Luke Black, Jazzbois and Duckshell .

As a new home for large-scale productions , Le Grand Theatre  will host spectacular circus and dance performances, where over 1,500 spectators can immerse themselves in the world of performances every night. This stage will host performances by – among others – the  French new circus company Collective XY  with their production of Möbius, the Dutch  Club Guy & Roni , one of Australia’s leading contemporary dance companies, the  Australasian Dance Collective , and  Bad Nature ,  a co-production between  HIIIT  and  Boris Acket , where dance, live music and a fascinating unique stage world come together after midnight. But there are more surprises to be expected here…

MOBILIS  is  a 360° outdoor space where the boundaries between audience and performers are blurred: the day starts with a joint movement, followed by dance performances, such as  Tunisian choreographer Ahmed Ayed  's production,  ...And Nobody Else , Canadian  roller skating production Le Patin Libre  ,  Wheels & Cello  and French energy bomb  Cie Accrorap - Prelude Out  . The evening ends with a joint dance before dark.

Le DÔME  is a new, completely unique dome-like, enclosed space that hosts intimate performances during the day:  Losinformalls  (ES)  – Perdón ,  Szeri Viktor  (HU)  – Fatigue  and  Oli Mathiesen with Lucy Lynch and Sharvon Mortimer  (NZ)  – The Butterfly Who Flew Into The Rave

At the  Cirque du Sziget venue, in addition to the performances, workshops, interactive elements and smaller performances will allow visitors to actively connect with the circus world. The program will feature companies such as  Tridicolous (DE) ,  Alta Gama (FR)  and  Race Horse Company (FIN).

Magic Mirror , where you can expect wonderful sparkling queer productions and parties this year. Among the performers will be the Dutch  House of Circus –  with its show Carniavale Royal, every night at 8 pm, the Brazilian circus artist Diana Salles – with her solo production Delusional 'I Killed a man'  , the  YAV – Movement of Soul  performance and the Palestinian pop icon,  Bashar Murad

They have just posted the full dropyard lineup. Not sure if there are any names in there that weren't announced already.

I guess we'll get the buzz names next, then the theatre/non music programs.

I think on top of that they need to announce the beach,  the luminarium is coming back as well I believe.  I’m guessing we will still have tribute bands somewhere- maybe it’s Own stage.

Then we have maps and timetables

announcing the districts will take a while.

Announcing the sziget main stage mini show each day.

Food and drink offerings

NGOs, museums, art stuff, installations, ted talks etc

quite a bit to go

@mikro could post the oya dreamlist 2027, thanks

Hello, I unfortunately didn't take a screenshot.

One question was: Which of these shows are you visiting in Oslo? and options were Robyn, Tame Impala, Raye, and Olivia Dean. All of those were also options in the wish list.

From the Sziget list, I think Ethel Cain, Rosalia, The War on Drugs, The xx, PinkPantheress, Phoebe Bridgers, Jade, Addison Rae, Doechii, Fred Again, Jungle, and Central Cee were there as well.

Turnstile, Hayley Williams, Gorillaz, and Bon Iver were definitely options as well; those were my picks.

https://clashfinder.com/s/sziget2026/?user=parmiggiana

I updated the clashfinder, and I think we are 99% of completion at this point. The only open points I see are:

  • CMQMartina playing on the Lightstage, not sure when
  • Quest playing the Der Klub, not sure when
  • Ducksheel disappeared from the line-up
  • Bashar Murad (only person in the line-up not to receive an announcement, also Palestinian), not sure when and where to play
  • Some stages have different number of players, which maybe planned or to be adjusted few days before the release of the official timetable

The line-up on its own is a 7.5 or a 8- on my book.

I'm really not a fan of the stages distribution, to be honest. I think that having 6 bands on the Revolut/A38 makes the clashes terrible during the night and reduces variety by a long shot.

Moreover, the Delta District doesn't really make sense, in this formula. I understand that they use different tiers of stages where they rotate music genres to give at least one night of real "representation" to each of them, but honestly, it is just weak this way. It would have made more sense just to enlarge the Colosseum to the point where it is a real stage on par with Party Arena and Revolut, rather than keeping it as "boutique" stage: it made sense before 2015, but nowadays techno is too big of a business to have it confined there.

It is good to see The Buzz growing to a decent point where it's not just niche bands to fill in when the Revolut/Main do not deliver. At the same time, I question the use of the DropYard. Very cool idea, but if the budget is so small to build a stage, why bother? There are probably 5 big (country-specific) names, and then there is a plethora of 200 monthly listeners on Spotify. Nothing against it, but it doesn't really serve any purpose in the great scheme of things.

One other thing I noticed in the past year and expect to happen this year as well is that the single performances are getting shorter. Before Covid, headliners and subheadliners would perform 90 mins, and mostly anybody else would perform for 60-75 minutes. I noticed that the average performance has dropped to around 60 minutes: I understand that that's where the market is heading, but it could be a chance to add a much-needed 5th slot on the Main Stage, and instead that time will likely be filled by children's choir and something-washing proclamations.

Thanks for sharing that illicit look at the timetable In progress.  Super interesting.  Some suprises.  I had morcheba before goren for day zero.   I had biffy subheadlining.   Some brutal early evening clashes for me if that pans out to  be the timetable.

Quite a few annoying clashes, but also couple that I can't understand as they would, almost certainly, attract the same (or very similar) audience:

Wolf Alice v Lambrini Girls

Sigrid v Rose Gray

Nia Archives v Peggy Gou

Doesn't appear to be a Revolut headliner on the final day either.
