Prince got announced 3 or 4 weeks before the festival. 🫣🫣

I’m like 90% sure it won’t be Prince this time.
Kings of Leon were announced in June back in 2015. Even if we don’t count 30STM when they replaced Amy, it’s not unheard of that the last headliner is announced quite late.

Overall, this is a very decent line-up!
Even starting to think about switching pukkelpop for this one. Love the return to more guitar/rock music, which gives a lot more depth and variety of the line up. So you say there's one more headline missing, that's cool. Few more decent mid-tier names would make huge difference

Why would they hold it back?

Tbh, if they can have Skepta sub BMTH it wouldn't surprise me if Skrillex is subbing 21 Pilots.

Skrillez as final main headliner (after having him as a sub two years ago) would be a massive step back. It will highlight the lack of money floating around - despite asking people to pay the same price for tickets.

I would genuinely be absolutely amazed if he's announced for the Saturday - less so if it's the Wednesday.

Skrillex to close on Saturday I guess, and Biffy Clyro to sub 21 Pilots.

I guess they are waiting to announce him with the Delta District/electronic lineup

Maybe it was meant to be Skepta and they quickly realised their mistake *fingers crossed*

ive been to estreo picnic in bogota this week and skrillex killed it!

lets just say that it can also be Kygo, and you better hope its not

I don't doubt that Skrillex can 'kill it', I just don't think he's headliner size at a festival like Sziget.

Skrillex fits in Sziget vibe. I do want another full band in the headline slot playing real instruments live (Deftones are in Wien on the next day *wink) but looking the big names from last two years, there are just few such acts. The rest is single guy/gal performing.

I think it has been established by now that the final headliner will be a DJ, I'm afraid.

There are two bigger slots available, and since they are yet to entirely release the electronic lineup (debatable strategy, but Sziget got us accustomed to way worse decisions), it might also be TWO DJs.

I'm not sure it has been established that it will be a DJ.

While history shows us that it's likely to be a DJ due to previous Saturday night bookings, I just wonder if the new owner might want to make a statement booking of a live act - "Think you know Sziget? Think again!"

You would assume that booking a DJ would be the easiest headline booking to make - and yet no announcement has been made, despite day tickets going on sale.

I'll no doubt be proven wrong, but I have a feeling it won't be a DJ this year (which inevitably means it will be!!!)

I'm long time efestivals user. And even though I check Sziget line-ups through the years, this is the first time I actually read the Sziget rumor treads.

Overall, people here seems to be used to disappointment and bad news which is quite unfortunate. And even still, everyone are ready to give them line of credit because the festival itself is (from what I heard) very good, not only because the music acts but everything happening on the island. Also Budapest is great city.
Thinking about it, few good surprises would go long way in peoples' excitement and hype... and long term loyalty. Especially in this a bit weak festival year they could make a real impact. don't know.. just my line of thoughts

My personal take, its the best festival I have ever been to. Not as good as pre covid, but still the one I would choose if I went to 1 fest a summer.

It helps I am not so concerned about the lineup, probably the least of my concerns.

Im genuinely pretty happy with what’s been announced so far.  Would like a few more acts I super love,  but I will find acts to love from the unknowns already announced.   Someone like placebo or pixies would get me super excited.

from a more electro side- fever ray, moby, wood kid would go down well with me.

give me more random world music and gypsy bands to dance to.   I’m happy

With Placebo announcing a big tour for the Autumn/Winter, they have to make a return next year hopefully. They are playing the arena in Budapest, so depending on sales I suppose.

Hopefully get tickets for Manchester and Nottingham tomorrow.

Reading and Leeds line-up has been updated.

I'd happily take quite a few of these.

    • Muse new album out soon , European tour announcement for Nov and Dec, no Spanish date and north American tour starts in July and in North America for all of July and August. So primavera and Glastonbury
    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
