It does close? The X’s show however you can still watch it outside on the screens

Really? I don't remember seeing Xs last year but (for a change) I was inside on time whenever I needed to, so maybe I didn't pay close attention and missed them.

well I say X’s, not quite the same as the main stage but there’s the metal entrances on the way in, they shut so no more people can get in.

This is the best picture I have of it

Ah alright, indeed, I remember those although I don’t think I ever saw them closed last year. I can see them closing for the Prodigy though…

De La Sol were there last year on the main and in my opinion they were really really bad.

Loved them, but I'm a huge fan. They brought the whole band, their rapping is still quite tight, did a great setlist and even brought out Black Star. Not a lazy phoned-in performance as well. I'm curious about what made it 'really really bad' for you?

I'm not a huge fan so maybe I'm being unfair or maybe I had the wrong expectations. I (and everyone around me) found the whole performance a bit...meh, a bit boring, and couldn't stay interested for long. But I understand that for people that know them well maybe it was a completely different experience. I was at the opposite side of the spectrum with Deftones. I heard a lot of criticism but I personally loved it.

Last announcement did not add much for me unfortunately. Sunday evening might be stacked but the rest of the day is a bit deceiving.

Johnny Marr or Lykke Li (both announced for the Cave day at Live is Live) would have been fun names.

Balu Brigada

All Them Witches

The Vaccines

Kasabian

(Jade)

The War on Drugs

Midnight Generation (The Prodigy)

Blood Incantation

Kingfishr

Wolf Alice

The Last Dinner Party

Franz Ferdinand

(Kae Tempest)

(FKA Twigs)

Lewis Capaldi

The Warning

The XX

LANDMVRKS

The New Eves

Man/Woman/Chainsaw

Kneecap

Florence Road

(Halsey)

Matt Berninger

Twenty One Pilots

Gorillaz

Tsar B

Westside Cowboy

NewDad

Mogwai

David Byrne

(Moby)

The Cure

A last nice little surprise with the Saturday Klub C sub or headliner?

I also thought they were pretty bad, they didn't seem to interest the majority of the crowd, it's sad because I was looking forward to seeing them. I just didn't think it worked for them on the day

Sunday very too two makes it look strong that it is. While there is plenty of options, there are big spaces and no big hitters past the top two really apart from Halsey Saturday in 3rd. Sunday is the easiest  though to go in at 5 and stay. How far is the hive walk to the arena?

Gorillaz album out today, and a short film later today. is perfect day.

Was wondering as Johnny Maar is in the area whether he’d come out for a couple of their tunes

  • 3 weeks later...

I was at the Tom Smith gig yesterday - it was gorgeous, with many Editors classics acoustic - and before the show, The War on Drugs were played out of the speakers. The two acts fit perfectly. It would be such a waste to miss one of them because of playing at the same time…

I've been unable to post for a while...

I don't think he'll be on tour with them,

The band especially Damon Albarn were very lacklustre in Bradford, hopefully they are using the 'warm up' gigs quite literally as they get used to playing the new album, no musical knowledge but it seems to be quite tricky to play on the face of it. Hopefully they'll be in better spirits in the summer, quite upsetting to see as the band have been through quite a lot

Going to be interesting to see the times as I want to see him really but also need to make sure I get a spot in the barn for The Prodigy

that’s a shame as has heard the opposite.  The time I saw them though I left early on as it was too disjoined.  Happy to give them another shot though

yeah I like them a lot but the crowd were just not engaged at all and it really killed the vibe. still, if rumours are true they're on the leaked forwards lineup so I'll see them then

But that's just saying the crowd was bad, not the band isn't it? I can't think of what De La Soul could've done better in that hour they got. Setlist was perfect. They were very energetic themselves too.

To be fair, the main stage crowd was dreadful that whole day. Fontaines DC were also really tight, performance wise, but the crowd wasn't into it as well.

really curious to see what acts will fly with this crowd and what will not this year. CMAT is massive in the UK but remains to be seen if she can have the same impact here the way she did at Primavera; and her songs recently are even more UK-centric like Jamie Oliver Petrol Station and she even brought out Harry Hill at Ally Pally.

half a dozen of one and six of the other, been watching prodigy performances on youtube and they even got parts of the Coachella crowd raving but I get your point obviously de la soul is never going to turn into a rave

The slope acts will do great, especially expecting The Warning, The Reytons, Basht. and Cardinals to go down very well.  The Prodigy is going be unreal in the barn, no doubt David Byrne and CDW will too.

From a selfish point of view I’m hoping the crowds are out early for Balu Brigada and Wolf Alice

I'd imagine Balu will. It's a full circle with 21 Pilots fans and they're loyal AF

saw Gorillaz over the weekend, Damon Albarn's voice isn't getting any better with age but the whole band and setup was excellent, overall probably the best they've ever sounded. The guy from Idles does seem to be making a regular cameo for his song, although I don't know how long that will last as they are on tour themselves in the summer, and it was a nice surprise that bootie brown was there for dirty harry, he absolutely nailed it. I expect some more cameos for RW but it's hard to say at this point, yes it just depends who's available at the time

100 days till RW26, feels like it's coming around much quicker this year

And I cannot wait.  Weather is improving, listening to the acts more and finding more and more I love.  Should be a great 5 days

    • I'm personally confident that Slipknot will be one of the headliners next year (no insider info just lines up with them likely releasing an album soon)    Then there's the headliner that's never played the festival before which the bookers have alluded to so that's one of Blink, Foos, NIN, Nickelback and possibly Pearl Jam or even Bon Jovi    The third band I also think will be a new headliner who are being bumped up so Deftones, Offspring, Paramore Etc.    I'd love Slipknot, Foos and Paramore but realistically i'd go with Slipknot, Blink and Deftones
