Glastonbury Maps

I have always kept bits of festival ephemera for the memory box each year, program, tote bag, ticket, wrist band, jam jar of mud from 2016, etc, and the last 5 or 6 festivals I've made a point of tracking down one of the A3 site maps that are dished out at info points. Well, I've got in the habit of scanning and uploading them to Internet Archive and have also hunted down a bunch more via eBay for this purpose:

https://archive.org/search?query=subject%3A"Glastonbury+Festival+Map"&sort=date

I'd love to add more, but old ones don't pop up on eBay very often. In particular, I'd be keen to buy an A3 map for 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2016 as I was at those festivals and would love to have them in my memory box. If anyone has any of these and is willing to part with them, please let me know.

But if anybody has any earlier ones I'd be very keen to get a high-res (600dpi TIFF) scan to add to the Internet Archive collection, I got a 1992 one recently! It's fascinating to see how the site has changed over the years. I'm quite the obsessive amateur digital archivist, as you'll see if you look at my uploads: https://archive.org/details/@mrstephencole 🙂

Cheers!

I'm also a G maps collector, have been for many years.

I went to check my 'stock' and it's probably no coincidence that I have every one you have, meaning the rest are not

easily available on the net.

I do however have this from 2016. Its a hi res A0 finely detailed Site Plan. The Site plans are quite rare
.They used this to actually set up the site. I'm guessing the site maps were also based from these plans

Don't get excited about this. 2002 map Someone actually scanned the paper map to me in two halves.

I have joined them but as the paper probably wasn't flat on the scanner bed they didn't fit perfectly together

Big thanks - I've been looking for the 2002 map - it was my first glasto :o)

re: the detail map being ready

to my knowledge there will be an early version - for the fence crew and a few other infrastructure teams, although i doubt those people will read this post or bother to post it here

I imagine as it was scanned and emailed to me it probably isn't commonly available on the net.

The more people that down load it and share, the more people will see it.

I hope Dirty Steve hosts it alongside his

Beautiful. Thanks for this. Do you still have the two scanned halves you were emailed? If so, could you send them to me so I can stitch them in Photoshop? I have to scan all my maps in two halves and then tease them together nicely, I reckon I could probably do a nicer job of this (no offence intended!).

Challenge accepted. I also used PS, the edges don't match so I did a bit of higgledy piggledy,

Show me what you got 😉

did you like the 2016 plan?

The download link didn't work, no file there. But I googled it and found a Dropbox link to the same PDF, so I've downloaded it and will put into the archive shortly. 🙂

Thanks to the kindness of @Staberinde there are now three new maps in the collection:

2002: https://archive.org/details/glastonbury-festival-2002-map

2009: https://archive.org/details/glastonbury-festival-2009-map

2016 Site Plan: https://archive.org/details/glastonbury-festival-2016-site-plan-map

And I went on eBay this afternoon and found someone selling a 2005 A3 map for £2.50, so I'll be scanning and uploading that when it arrives next week!

Awesome! With luck, I'll eventually have loads more archived. My goal is to get everything from 2000 and onwards, but anything earlier I'll be keeping a sharp eye out for too. If anyone has any to sell, drop me a DM.

I'm definitely following this topic.

Maybe give it the odd 'bump'  in the final week before Glasto, that's when efests gets most of it hits.

Who knows what 'gems' some people may share

Interesting stuff. I'm a complete G souvenir geek (maps very much included) and I have a good few boxes full of stuff from every year since 1989. Finally this could be the reason I kept all this crap!

Excellent! If you have any maps, let's get them into the archive. 🙂 Ideally, they'd be scanned as 600dpi TIFFs but if that's not straightforward for you to achieve (and to stitch the scans together seamlessly in Photoshop if you need to scan them in halves) then I'd be very happy to do it if you'd be happy to pop them in the post to me for a brief lend.

Lovingly the geekery in this thread. Chuffed to have the 2009 map - our first year on the farm! Thank you 😀😀

2005 was my first Glasto so I'm looking forward to this!
