I’d imagine (well hope maybe) that they’ve held back the 2 standalone Saturday announcements.

I hope you're right, but judging by their order on the website, they seem to already have 6 bands (at least) on Main Stage. Of course they can add to some of the other stages, but it seems strange to hold back on such announcements. Maybe they'll move Maribou State or something and then split the two "local" bands with an act, as I doubt that they will have them back to back on main stage (but who knows now), and a new second/third down.

Think they have 5:

Sam Fender, Raye, Damiano David, Goldband and Jazz Brak

Maribou State, Elbow, Beth Gibbons, Amenra, Bright Eyes and Jacotene being the Barn lineup that day

Yeah could be, and makes more sense (although I don't see Maribou State as any kind of headliner). If so, I hope the second part of my theory is correct and that they're not filled by some other solo projects from Måneskin headliners, but som proper names 😉

Thursday is good, Friday is ok, but unless they have som really good cards up their sleeve for Saturday, the two last days are really bad and not worthy my combi ticket. See you in the drinking section on Sunday 😉

For me the Elbow-Beth Gibbons-Amenra trio plus Wisp on the slope makes the undercard okey-ish for Saturday but I have zero interest for the headliners (or anyone on the main stage for that matter). For Sunday...I just really hope for nice weather now to at least enjoy some nice time on the grass with a few beers and some "whatever" music in the background. Otherwise, if it's raining...see you at the Apero!

I don't think it's anywhere near the best in Europe if you bypass them being the only festival the grab LP, Green Day and Olivia. I have in Download Friday and Saturday a better lineup than this personally. But it's each to their own.

I don't think it's even the best in Belgium. The lineup of Graspop is 10 times better for my taste 🙂. But I was referring to non-genre-specific mainstream festivals (like Glasto, Primavera, Mad Cool, etc.) and many think that they 've got the best lineup and biggest names. Fair enough, I get it, good for them and it may even be true for what is popular these days and what attracts the youth. But it certainly isn't Rock Werchter.

Just about the best one day run in Europe this summer. Great stuff.

I would disagree but it's each to their own. I think Friday Download is the best one day run in Europe for me. 7 bands one after the other with a gap early on.

Im too lazy to count, is this the line up or are we expecting one more drop and the poster?

We all bitch about Werchter (and no debate starting!) but once again its incredible value for money.

I actually don't see the incredible value in this. It's not worth currently to me at least, £300 based on the standard The Hive option which at this point is probably where I would be. Obviously if I managed to get a better spot then it's significantly more. Right now, it's a case or doing it to tick it off as festival more than anything.

I don't think Graspop is as good as usual but Werchter just reminds me of a festival that tried to become Mad Cool, got it really bad and messed it up. Mad Cool isn't great for me but they've a similar booking ideas of acts at Werchter but they've spaced them out where interests are more likely to result in a weekend ticket that picking your days out. How can you have 8/9 acts you would watch on the first two days and then 4 at the max on Sat and Sun combined with two of those getting 30 minutes each likely lol.

I’m attending Rock Werchter for the first time this year and I have a few doubts, if someone can help me:

- How is the camping situation on The Hive, chaotic or is it easy to find a good spot? Does it form a line before it opens?
- Transport to the site - I’m flying in from Portugal and so far it seems that my options are:
1. Flying to Brussels and catching the train to Leuven and the free festival shuttle to the site;
2. Flying to Amsterdam or Eindhoven and catching a Maximal Trips bus to the site.
Are there any other options? I’m specially interested in direct buses like this Maximal Trips one. Has anyone ever bought this trip? Looking for suggestions and feedback.

If you have any other recommendations  for a first time goer, they’re more than welcome! Thank you!

Pretty sure the festival ticket includes free train return ticket within Belgium, so if you take option 1 you'd just need to pay for the flight and then train and shuttle would both be free?

Also my first time going this year though so someone else please correct me if I'm wrong!

best experience was go there on wednesday with the hive camping and go to De Glazen Botherham

I had no idea this existed until now, we normally go to the Oud Werchter bar. Is it worth the extra walk up to De Glazen Botherham?

My first time too and that’s what I’ve been told too.  Nearer to the time you can download something to enable the free travel.  I now also have to go thurs morning so will be using the Eurostar to Brussels route and then up to the site.  Seems simple enough

yes! not tangled up in the festivalbusiness, so it has the normal menu and normal prices. i think they had a reasonable food option too. it felt like we were the only not regulars, but in a good way.

I really hope it's wrong...

Amyl vs Yseult
Sigrid vs Lambrini
Fontaines DC vs Ezra
Lola Young vs Joey Valence...

yeah this clash will be harsh

Sigrid vs Lambrini the big one for me, I've seen both before and I'll probably end up at Lambrini but damn. SEXTILE - London Grammar - Deftones - Heilung overlapping is a big test to the "do I want to see the whole set" commitment that I'm trying to do at fests this year and Iggy/Linkin Park will hurt but might push me to go to the Iggy gig at Ally Pally here.

Underworld and Fat Dog is also a brutal one, as is Gurriers/Beth Gibbons and Wunderhorse/Cliffords. Allie X/Foster the People would be a classic case of my two most hyped acts for the day clashing - and I've always been curious about Gracie Abrams as well but not at the extent of Bolis Pupul/Soulwax.

Good spot. Will venture out of the festival to mingle with the locals on one of the days 😀

I've not been in a while. I guess they got rid of the paper tokens. How does the digital currency work, is it just like contactless?

God, I'm so excited for this, it'll be my 4th time going, and every time I go I regret not going as much. Belgian locals are always so friendly

On the subject of clashes, is it possible to watch an act in the Barn and then go to the next act in Klub C (or vice versa), or is that completely unrealistic?

It depends. If you are on the front side in the tent and can leave easy and leave before/while the last song, it can work. But I'd say Elbow or London Grammar you have to be there 15Min before the concert is starting or you watch it on the screens outside...

So shall have to run over from Fontaines to London Grammar

In terms of distance it's realistic as they are literally next to each other. The problem is that depending on how popular the act is and who is on the main stage at the same time, you might (in most cases) not manage to get in if you are not there at the beginning. In the past you would face red crosses, now you will face a clogged entrance.  while the festival is changing its skin, not everyone has realised it yet (or are in denial like me 🙂 ). When there is a pop or hip hop or RnB act on the main stage, the Barn and/or Klub C will be super busy.

To make this more tangible with an example: If that Damiano David dude is indeed clashing with Beth Gibbons, expect carnage at the Barn's entrance. Go super early if you want to get in. Same goes with Raye and Elbow. I also expect the Barn to be busy on Sunday for most part of the day.

Never used it myself as we always drive there, but indeed your RW ticket includes a free train ticket to and from the festival that you will be able to download somewhere in early/mid June. Your ticket will include a code for the download and a piece of text like this (copy-paste from one of my past tickets):

"This festival ticket is not valid as a train ticket. Download your free train ticket with the SNCB-code via sncb.be/rockwerchter as from the 7th of June. The train ticket is personal and valid for a return journey to Rock Werchter and the campsites, including transfers by extra bus of De Lijn. NIGHT TRAIN: every night 2 extra trains homewards. Buy your ticket for only € 13. All info and train tickets: sncb.be/rockwerchter.
More info: www.rockwerchter.be"

I hope it helps.

I think London Grammar > Heilung, Caribou > Underworld and Overmono > Rufus Du Sol are my main worries. I’ll try and leave before the end without annoying too many people.

I’ll definitely be there well in advance for Beth Gibbons & Elbow, but I might be racing Sisco to get to London Grammar.

Yeah my worry is we’ll be at the front for Fontaines too.  Hey Ho, I’ll worry about that in 120 days

Deftones - Iggy - LG - Heilung - Coheed, that one way or another will overlap (not everyone with everyone ofc), is the biggest nightmare for my group. Putting Lambrini Girls and Amyl, not only on the same day but at the same time (or back to back at best but on different stages) is just stupid imo with the lineup you have.

If they'd have just mixed up the lineups between Thursday & Sunday (even just the undercard without the headliners), we'd end up with a much better festival.

Said before, just switch the Thursday and Sunday slope lineups and it makes it so much better.

Still think Sam > Raye is a weird combo, Damiano is good but yes he has like 3 solo songs 🥴

I'm curious to see who will have the biggest audience that day 🤔

Instagram followers:

Damiano 6,7m

Raye 2,5m

Sam 1,1m
