Pro Burnham/Rayner MPs would surely all vote for Starmer to buy time and keep Streeting out.

Streeting knows this. That's why I think he'll bail and hope for a better opportunity when the Burnham/Rayner vote is split or if either of them implodes.

or he just doesn't have the numbers.

Streeting is largely funded by private healthcare lobbyists. This alone makes him unpalatable for a lot of people. His backing for Palantir to take ownership of an NHS data platform is also problematic. He has not been supportive of trans issues and is against assisted dying. Whilst a lot of this of more concern to activists, some voter demographics, and especially those they are losing to Greens will be all over it too.

You don't need to read this, but others here might.

He mentions islands of strangers speech as part of the criticism. Streeting definitely more liberal when comes to internationalism and immigration....but obviously he's dodgy evil man who wants to sell off the NHS to the zionist tech barons, something like that anyway.

He hasn't launched a challenge. Wants Starmer to resign.

Bottled it as I thought he would. Now will bide his time until Burnham gets his seat and then there is a challenge.

He's not becoming PM, Burnham is still the frontrunner.

Good letter that, plenty of self praise for the excellent work he has done for the NHS ho ho. Pretty blunt on Starmer's leadership though.

So...what happens now?? Rayner appointed as health secretary??

Move Rayner in as Foreign Secretary maybe to give her an elite position? And then shift Cooper to Health?

Be funny if Burnham finds a seat and the NEC still blocks him.

Could Burnham not have found a seat sooner. It could take months now to get one and be installed.

he would have just got blocked like he did in Gorton & Denton. The problem isn't just finding a seat, its being allowed to stand.
