"Nickelback" never said anything. One of the members said he'd love to if the others were up for it. Doesn't change that they don't really do festivals in Europe all that much and other festivals in the UK would probably be higher in the pecking order if they were to announce a festival run.

I'd love them to do it, they were amazing in May but just seems unlikely.

Fair point that it was a Ryan Peake and not Nickelack however, it wasn't just festivals in Europe they didn't play it was festivals fullstop, but when he gave that interview in November 2022 was when they had started picking up festivals again.

Between September 2006 (last time they played any festivals in Europe)-September 2023 they only played 6 festivals worldwide - 3 state fairs in the US, 2 shows at Rock In Rio and 1 festival in Canada. In the 12 months since they have played 15.

Which festival in the UK do you think would book them, which is big enough for a band of their size other than Download? I have had a think and I can't think of many.

I don't think Reading and Leeds book them, I don't Glastonbury booking them and I don't see them coming to do BST. So you are left with Download, Isle of Wight, Victorious, Boardmasters and Latitude. I don't see them at the last three on their list or fitting their booking strategies, so your looking at Download or Isle of Wight. Both can offer them the bag, but if it is for an exclusive Download can pay more and I suspect it would be a fly-in, so Download makes by far the most sense.

Copping said let's get them (NB) at Download after he last saw them, so no doubt he'll be asking sooner or later. I'd like to see it, likely be the only time I'd ever see them.

Funnily enough if you gave me Sleep Token, Nickelback and Green Day next year I'd be okay with that. I wouldn't see them anywhere else.

Nickelback at Download would be grand. Got the riffs, got the crossover demographic appeal and are perfectly capable live.

San Quentin

Savin' Me

Animals

4 Lullaby

5 Someday

Far Away

If Today Was Your Last Day

Figured You Out

When We Stand Together

10 Hero

11 Photograph

12 Gotta Be Somebody

13 How You Remind Me

14 Rockstar

15 Burn It to the Ground

My only caveat is that I've nearly always considered them sub level tops. What's necessarily changed?

I reckon this is probably exactly why they haven't done Download. Andy's offered them sub/2nd head instead before and they've declined, but that recent tour here shows that's more the spot they're in in terms of ticket sales. Don't think they sold out 4 arenas.

They were definitely headliner sized at one point, it’s just that they were seen as a f**king joke so were never booked. They’re not quite as big now but the shame surrounding them has been replaced by fond nostalgia. They could definitely do if, I just don’t see it happening myself.

I've no idea on the other dates but I was there at Manchester Arena and it was completely Sold Out. Nickelback are Headliners or Nothing.

Nickleback headliner with a Creed sub and Three Days Grace third be an immaculate night.

Three Days Grace are nowhere near third from top.

Nickelback, Shinedown, Creed

That's more realistic for a top 3

I don’t know to be honest, feel like there had a resurgence with the others as well, but not sure what kind of tickets they’re selling tbh.

Yeah, I don't think they did. The counter-argument is that QOTSA didn't sell their arena tour either but they at least had the R+L top spot in the back pocket.

Fond nostalgia has the power for many, I guess.

Bullet For My Valentine will be wanting somebody to have some fond nostalgia for them...

I can't imagine a world where Nickelback aren't headliners! That sounds insane to me. They sold out their UK tour in absolutely no time and are still a huge name

Ah if they did then fair enough, just hadn't seen anything. I do think they're headline level, just theorising what Andy might've tried to get away with if they're "only" doing 4 arenas. Would go down extremely well and nothing would piss off Facebook more so I'd love to see it happen one day if only for that

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
