Tidal (via Argentina so about 35p a month) usually on my phone to Chromacast on the stereo, or via the Windows app during the working day, vinyl and a really cool app called Simple Radio with some of the best stations in the world as favourites.

Just got an email today from Tidal Argentina that they're only accepting payments from Argentine bank issued cards. Looks like the gig might be up....been a good run though.

I use Tidal HiFi Plus via toslink optical Chromecast Audio pucks to a linked Naim Mu-so/ Ruark R4 Google Home network. The Chromecast Audio's max sample rate is 24 bit 96khz (unlike normal Chromecast) and works well. The Tidal app is really good for that sort of networking. Also have a large HDD based library which I can tend to cast to a separate amp and speakers or listen with headphones.

Tidal is much less work though...

Got the same email, there's a informative thread here - apparently their currency has had a very tough year, but there are suggestions tidal has made similar moves in other countries recently.

I run raspberry pi players and squeezebox. Switched from sonos when they started obsoleting older kit. Ripped all my cds to flac and squeeze works with BBC sounds, Spotify and sound sound cloud. It's a bit nerdy as open source but with the picoreplayer and hiberry gpio boards I think it sound better than my old sonos kit as a source. Got players all over my house hooked up to some pretty good amps and speakers. I see Spotify hi res audio is comibg soon too.

thanks, i started putting something similar together year ago , but found it too faffy and unstable (was prolly the broadband/router that was unstable) as the output device i wanted tended not to be available when i wanted it. my sonos is much more stable.

Yeah sonos does just work and the app and integration is top draw.

Like many here, I have a collection of CDs that hold sentimental value, though they're rarely played these days. I've shifted mainly to digital formats for convenience. Spotify is my go-to for streaming music, both for its wide selection and user-friendly playlists. At home, I've set up a modest sound system with a good-quality Bluetooth speaker that connects to my phone or laptop. It's interesting to see how our music consumption habits evolve with technology, yet we hold onto the past formats for their nostalgic value.

A little gem from the NME today... in a piece about Our Price reopening.

And here's the article if anyone fancies a trip down memory lane. Or is saying what the feck is Our Price?

I still like CDs and have a ton of 80s vinyl and tapes. For context, first bought a CD c. 1989.

Thinking of getting a new turntable if anyone can recommend one. Already have a nice pair of B+W speakers to play through.
