I need to make plans for 2024 soon (visiting USA for a total eclipse on April 8, 2024, and planning for it to be in the early part of a 12 week trip)

When will Glasto 2024 be?

12 weeks from / about April 8 gets me close to when I think it would be so I need to think whether I start with the eclipse of arrive a week or more beforehand to fit in Texas before the eclipse

Thanks

The 2024 summer solstice is Thursday 20 June so GF will probably  be 19 - 23 June...........10 weeks after 8 April

In 2019 it was 26 to Sunday 30 June.

In 2024 there's Sunday 30 June again.

Won't it probably be 26 to 30 June again then??

It's traditionally held the first weekend after the summer solstice

Yep, it'll be that.

Hasn't been as early as (finishing on) the 23rd since the 80s.

I thought it was always last full weekend of June, as simple as that

Nothing to do with solstice, it's been Sunday 30th June a few times for last day

This - it always contains the last Sunday of the month, this year solstice ties in (sort of) with the festival with it being on the Wednesday.

It’s always the first Friday after the summer solstice so will be 26th to 30th June 2024

The summer solstice in 2019 was Friday the 21st making 26 - 30 2019 the first weekend after the solstice (Friday 28th being the first Friday after the solstice)

To keep it simple, Forget the solstice. It's always the last Saturday and Sunday in June.

What about when it was held in September?

Or when it was held 18 - 20th of June

Even assuming your assertion that it's the first weekend after the solstice is correct, which I don't think it is, those dates wouldn't be correct as they would mean the festival would already be in progress when the solstice takes place.

The official start of the festival is Friday (when the mains stages open) which makes the weekend beginning Friday 21st the first weekend after the solstice which occurs on the 20th in 2024

This has always been my opinion.

It’s always the last full weekend in June.

It's the first full weekend after the solstice - 21st June is on the Friday and so is not after it. So effectively the same thing.

As lots of you have been asking, we're happy to confirm that next year's Glastonbury will take place from Wednesday, June 26th to Sunday, June 30th 2024.

    • Hey everyone! My friend and I are heading over from Sweden to Tramlines this summer. We had our eyes on a bunch of different festivals in the UK, but since most of them sold out before we even knew if we’d be able to make the trip, we finally settled on Tramlines. Why Tramlines, you might ask? Well, because we’re absolutely crazy about British music, and finding a festival like this (where you also don’t have to camp, a huge plus) made it impossible not to buy a ticket. The fact that I’ll also get to see The Enemy after beeing a fan for 19 years didn’t hurt either.   Since the app doesn’t work over here… is the Clashfinder schedule 100% accurate? What’s the venue like, and what does the map look like? Which sides of the stages are best to stand on? How long does it take to walk between stages? What are the prices usually for food and drinks? Is it easy to get to the festival from town? And is it easy to get back into town? Is it allowed to walk around with a beer anywhere in the venue, or are there those stupid fenced-off bar areas? As you can tell, I need all kinds of info, so please share your best tips and tricks to make this the best festival experience possible.  I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! 😃
    • A whole year of this!  What a time to be alive! This is going to be an incredible playlist.
    • Sorry matey.  Always a nightmare when you have a plan and something scuppers it.   Happy myself, fills a nice little gap for me. Lucky so far really.     I’d have preferred an alternative too to break up the 21 pilot set but shan’t complain
    • Happy with the name, unhappy with what it did to the lineup. Now I have to choose between Florence Road and Beirut 😞 and still no alternative to 21p.
    • Odd and rare for RW indeed! I even remember reading in the past that one of the reasons for certain bands not appearing there, were similar demands being rejected. It’s weird that they play after Gorillaz and even more weird that there won’t be an alternative. All they had to do was push Pixies to later.
