Taylor swift

I saw some of these track titles floating around and assumed they were fake as they look like a teenage fan attempt at a Taylor tracklist. I know overly confessional songwriting is what she’s become known for, and obviously premature as we’ve not heard the songs yet, but those titles are giving some ‘my ex’s are so mean’ energy, which was cute ten years ago, but is getting a little sad now that she’s in her mid-thirties…

Getting a Reputation vibe from this already:

1."Fortnight" (featuring Post Malone)

2."The Tortured Poets Department"

3."My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys"

4."Down Bad"

5."So Long, London"

6."But Daddy I Love Him"

7."Fresh Out the Slammer"

8."Florida!!!" (featuring Florence + the Machine)

9."Guilty as Sin?"

10."Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?"

11."I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)"

12."Loml"

13."I Can Do It With a Broken Heart"

14."The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"

15."The Alchemy"

16."Clara Bow"

Confirmed real (she posted them on Insta)

I hope her ex Joe goes into witness protection or something from her fans as it looks like a lot of references to him. 🙄 I wonder how many songs the 1975 guy is going to get; or if that will be swept under the rug. 🙃

Seen a lot of people joking that Smallest Man Who Ever Lived looks like it could be a Matty track 😅

She’s obviously free to do whatever she wants with her work, and like I said, this is her forte, but she must know that doing this kind of sh*t at this point is basically drawing a cross on Joe’s head, which just seems incredibly immature the further in to her career she gets. The titles kind of give off Lana vibes.. except Lana’s song titles are always so hilariously over the top whereas with Taylor you just get the impression she’s dead serious.

Hopefully the songs bang, I suppose.

Let's be honest, he'd wear this as a badge of pride. Man might rival her for the level of pop-culture cycle canniness and ego. (And I say this as someone who broadly loves music from both artists.)

Ach. If Dylan can do Blood On The Tracks and Marvin Gaye can do Here, My Dear and Nick Cave can do The Boatman's Call and so on and so on.

Yeah but Taylor’s already done Fearless, and Speak Now, and Red, and 1989, and Reputation… etc etc

Just seems a little lame at this point, the world’s most famous woman who derides people for drawing attention to her relationships and then seemingly writes an entire petty album about them. It would be one thing if he’d cheated or done some other scummy stuff, but by all accounts that’s seemingly not what happened, and I increasingly get the vibe she’s a very immature person who just happens to be an incredible songwriter/performer.

But I’ll stop there and maybe wait to listen to the album before I totally go off on one - I might end up totally eating my words on release day (although with Taylor’s songwriting history, probably not. I’m sure I’m dead on the money. She doesn’t do subtle).

Taylor Swift is the Bradley Cooper of music. Supremely talented, with a magnanimous generosity to their supporters and admirers, but a little too teachers-pet in their desire to be adored, and reportedly something of an inflexible ego when it comes to those close to them.

Ultimately if the songs are good, the rest is just context and gossip.  The last 3 albums show she's capable of evolving artistically and hopefully that will continue to be the case.

Very much the case too. Last three records have all slapped superbly.
