Kurosagi
1 hour ago, Hugh Jass said: I only tend to eat a couple of meals a day at GF. So picking from everything that's available is always a big deal, don't want to waste a meal and money on something rubbish when there could be something amazing around the corner. I'm one of those sad spreadsheet types and I love spending the weeks before the festival creating a clashfinder once the lineup's been confirmed. So I usually turn up with a clear plan of what bands I'm running around the site to see and so over the years I've built up some preferred go-to stalls depending on where I am: - Manic Organic if I'm West Holts, Glade or Green Fields area - Thali if I'm up at Park - Happy Maki if I'm at Williams Green/Acoustic etc. - John Peel/Dance field I find problematic but happy to pick up a pasty near the Bandstand along the way to keep me going. Later on I always try to grab a fried egg bap if passing near Croissant Neuf tent before it closes, best £1.50 you can spend when needing to plug a hunger hole in a rush. But yeah, I'm never one to hang around a stall if the queues are long...fuck food, onto the next gig!

maelzoid
I quite often dive into this website: https://www.besteveralbums.com It's nothing if not democratic. Just looking at what they have ranked highly for the last 25 years, it is very similar to the pitchfork list, with the major omissions being the massive uncool acts (Muse, Coldplay, Killers). I remain convinced that Radiohead do well in these lists because Radiohead fans are inclined to vote in them so much. Either that are they really are the greatest band of the last 25 years... Interesting. This website, which someone on here once mentioned and is the same concept, comes up with quite a different list: https://acclaimedmusic.net/year/alltime_albums.htm. It also has a list of the top 10,000 songs of all time (according to the critics' lists), both of which you can explore by genre or year/decade, and Spotify playlists of the same which are great to dip into. Either way, it hardly reverses the massive imbalance. The only consolation I will take is that the percentage of female artists in these lists seems to be trending upwards over the years.
